Im thinking of trying the lazymans tek for my first attempt.I know its not the best tek, but it seems to be simple and produce decent yields. One thing im confused with though is after you go through all the steps its says to simply put the naphtha in a dish with a fan on it and evaporate, to be left with the final product. The question I have is how does this work without leaving behind traces of naphtha in the DMT. any advice would be welcome. also how long does the evaperation take with a fan, and how long would it take without a fan. may be doing this at a place without power
 
A warm(ish) well ventilated place will also work. A fan just speeds it up (a lot.)
Naptha will vaporise and evaporate off entirely. This is the nature of it. Like when you dry your jeans there's no traces of water left in them.

If there were any impurity in the water it would remain on the jeans. Like sea water drying on a T-shirt (or sweat) can leave white marks which is the salt.

The idea is that the naptha is pure and will leave nothing behind.

If you're unsure put a little puddle of naptha on a mirror/ piece of glass/ old CD etc and let it evaporate.
There should be nothing left, no residue, no grease, no colour, no dust etc.
 
Thanks. Looking into what type of Naphtha to use. Read somewhere on here that Rosonal Lighter fluid works. Is that safe, or is there a better alternative? Also when doing pulls, should I wait for all the naphtha from each pull to fully evaporate, or can I add the next pull to the evaporation dish while there is still some left from the previous pull?
 
freeze precipitating the xtals out is the way to go IMO..just evap all of your naphtha down to a small amount and when it starts getting noticeably cloudy, cover it up and stick it in the freezer on its coldest setting overnight. then pour the naphtha off carefully, dry your crystals, and leave the naphtha somewhere to evaporate so you can collect whats left from that to. or you can reuse the naphtha

i think i remember hearing that people shouldn't use ronsonal lighter fluid because of impurities, but i might be mistaken.. i would just find some VM&P naphtha at lowes, home depot, or the web if you have to

I have used Swan brand lighter fluid before with no problems. I think it's all much of the same.
I've not used that tek though but I should think you could add all the pulls together. Others will advise though, for sure.

I'm in the UK and I've used Primus Powerfuel that's for camping cooking stoves. It's cheaper than lighter fluid.
It's clear, and evaporates cleanly. On the bottle it says naptha. Some sources hint that it contains some other ingredients (as opposed to being pure) but I feel that it's working fine for me.

I do STB extraction and then freeze precipitate the spice from the suspension.
 
Thanks for the advice guys. Looking around the internet it seems that what is called "White Gas" is actually naphtha. any use that?
 
Think Ill be using Coleman white gas. Its easily and cheaply available to me. And the evaporation test i did showed no residue. Anyone disagree with this choice. Id love to hear from you. Regardless of what i use Ill be doing a very small first batch, so if anything isnt right it wont really matter

I would re-think that. I would NOT recommend that. I wish I could give you the exact reason why, off the top of my head I cannot. I believe it has to do with impurities.
 
The MSDS i found online says that it is 100 % Naphtha by volume. But i still take your warning seriously. Is there anyone out there that has used "Coleman Camp Fuel" I'd really like to hear first hand accounts on whether or not it is safe

Yea freeze precipitate, at least for the time, then you could recrystallize later. Or if you decide to stick with letting it fully evaporate out, put it in a shot glass or small glass cup once your naphtha evaporates off you will be left with a solid crystal.

And yes use Naphtha don't waste your time with lighter fluid.
