Exactly how many molecules in 1 mg of DMT?

Migrated topic.
well,
the molar mass of dimethyltryptamine is 187.27 g/mol.

187.27g of DMT contains 6.02 x 10^23 molecules
so..

1mg is a very small amount..

1mg = 0.001g/187.27g= 0.0000534mol

so 1mg would contain...

0.0000534mol X 6.02 X 10^23 = 3.21468 x 10^20 or 321468000000000000000 molecules.

now for fun ill find out the classic breakthrough dosage, 50mg

0.050g/187.27g= 0.00267mol

0.00267 X 6.02 X 10^23 = 1.60734 X 10^22 or 16073400000000000000000 molecules
---

*correction
1mg = 3.21468 x 10^18
50mg = 1.60734 X 10^20

Seriously? 32 000 000 000 000 000 000 molecules in just 1 mg if i read well? 32 trillion trillion?

I ask because i sometimes feel like i can "see" them flowing with my mind's eye, and it seems like quite the hord cavaling in!

[edit] oops, faster than me and very precise, Mindlusion! Cheers!

that's lots of little friends :)

I think you've made a couple algebraic errors. 0.001/187.27 = 5.3*10^-6 mol (not 5.3*10^-5 as you've written), and (5.3*10^-5)*(6.02*10^23) = 3.2*10^18 molecules (even accounting for your figure of 5.3*10^-5, you've still somehow gained another order of magnitude in this step). The figure you gave for the breakthrough dose is likewise two orders of magnitude greater than I get for the calculation.

whoops your right, the calculator I used on my computer doesn't use scientific notation, I must of made mistakes counting all those zeros.

If you see molecules maybe you should try studying chemistry :). It's fun!
