SWIM has 100g banisteriopsis caapi vine and would like to know if he can use the same extraction procedure as with syrian rue? why do most people prefer rue over caapi?
If you want to extract MAOI's from plant sources Syrian Rue is the best you are going to get. Caapi has low levels compared to Rue. In addition Caapi has a decent amount of tetrahydroharmaline which rue has very little or none of. Not a whole lot is known about THH but it is believed to make the caapi experience much more mellow than rue.
IMHO Caapi is best served as a tea. I wouldn't extract it for anything...it is a VERY special vine that should be respected. Rue is great for extractions, you won't need lbs and lbs of it to get a decent yield. You can also pick up almost pure harmine from MJB Botanicals.
ok.. i've just planted about 20 rue plants.. i'll be gettin loads of seed next year! i just tried it out with 25g of seed i still had left. i'm letting it dry at the moment for the washes.
Good for you cheech!!! Working with the plants you are going to ingest is a great way to get to know them better. Not trying to come off as a newager, but IMHO humans need to work with the earth a little more!
People prefer rue because it is cheaper and has a higher content of harmaloids in it.
If you haven't tried Caapi vine tea, you should. It is a warm, somatic feeling. She (caapi) gives wonderful visions without any DMT... You should shred what you have and boil it for 3 hours 3 times. Reduce everything down to 200ml (don't worry you can boil it all day without hurting the alkaloids) and drink 1/2 50grams of potenet caapi is enough for visions, more may be necessary for weaker caapi. Either way 30g is enough for MAO inhibition. I prefer the caapi experience over rue any day. Rue is just better for extractions...
