Extracting with Solvents

For my next extraction I'm looking at using either Xylene or D-limonene as the solvent. Xylene is much more affordable ($18 for 4L), however, D-Limonene ($24 for 1L) appears more attractive as I don't want to stink out the house and breathe toxic fumes.

I have no Chemistry knowledge but I've read tons of teks.
Since I've decided to avoid the naptha/shellite freeze precip route I've been told to just let the Limonene evap slowly under a fan. Couldn't I just add an acid to the solution, re-use the solvent for next time, and evap the acid leaving behind the goodies?

if you can find toluene for cheap, you can jump on that (i hear it smells good).


also everything you can do with limonene, you can do with vegetable oil (with regards to DMT extraction) except veg. oil doesn't dissolve plastics.

i haven't used it myself, but jamie swears by it.

Ive never used limo but if I recall correctlty you can salt the DMT out and not have to evap at all. If you use FASA you will be left with DMT fumerate but converting it to freebase is easy enough.

If smell is an issue do not buy a giant bottle of xylene.

Check out all the FASW, FASA, FASI and vinegar salting posts these all work with limonene. I have been using vinegar 20ml per pull (mix your solvent and vinegar after then you can just salt it out with a base). To retrieve freebase I used ice house tek but with vinegar and lye and it works fine.

Endlessness has a tek on slow grown water xtals this looks simple. If you search fumerate to freebase conversion in the wiki it will be explained better what than I am doing. But essentially you perform an extra couple of steps after pulling the limonene.

Limonene does smell nice but I wouldn't fancy trying to evaporate it. I have a feeling you would be waiting a long old time. Also as it is reusable you are going to struggle to get through a whole litre of the stuff.

Just clean it with some fresh water when you are done and your good to go for next time.

Dont use toluene if you want stealth it needs very good ventilation otherwise you'll end up intoxicated and the house smelling like its just been decorated.
Thoroughly salt out from limonene and do the paste sod.carb freebase tek..

I agree with you on the xylene.!
Xylene can be smelled a block away!
Exylene is EASY for nosey neighbors to smell!...who might call someone you dont need!

Xylene, toulene, and limonene all have very strong odors. The difference with limonene is that the fumes are not toxic, and they smell like oranges. But the citrus-y smell is pretty strong. You cannot simply evaporate the limonene, as it does not evaporate clean. If you try this, it will leave your final product mixed with a bunch of gnarly, citrus-flavored residue. Not good to smoke...

Personally, I would recommend waiting until you don't live with your parents to do this... I am not going to tell you what to do, but most parents wouldn't know the difference between a simple DMT extraction and a meth-lab. I just can't imagine any way it would end well for you if you were to be found out. Xylene, toulene, limonene, VM&P Naphtha, lighter fluid... any of these are going to create a pretty strong odor and all except for limonene create harmful vapors. I would wait if I were you, but I am not you. Do whatever you see fit, just please use caution.

As far as a smell-less tek, I would recommend looking into vegetable oil teks. Once you salt out of the solvent (add an acidic solution), you are going to have to reconvert to freebase if you intend to vaporize your spice. DMT salts are no good for vaping.

We are against people extracting or using substances in student dorms/parents/shared houses or any other unsafe place or where the owners or roommates do not agree with what is being done. We do not give tips on 'stealth' teks. Do not do it unless the owner of the place accepts his/her full responsibility for the actions being done. If you don't have such a place to extract now, be patient, many have waited years and years for the right moment.

I received permission from my parent to proceed with the extraction only on the basis that I use completely non-toxic chemicals and clean the kitchen spotless afterwards.

If you were to do a freeze precip in a sealed container you can do the whole procedure with no smell regardless of what solvent you use. Is there a certain reason you choose not to use freeze precip? As it will yeild very clean crystals?

No its not. 50ml of heated naptha holds a gram of spice. That's pretty efficient. Though, unheated it takes about 200ml.

I`ll help you out, since I live in Australia myself.
Firstly, yes, Shellite is rubbish, only use that for defatting purposes, if you have need to perform defatting.

Step 1) Obtain Toluene, this is commonly sold a fuel additive (I believe for car racing *shrug*) from Auto shops...at least that's how I got mine.
Step 2) Obtain Zippo fuel, just goto a smokemart, sold in 125ml bottles...bit pricy, but this is just used for recrystalisation.

When doing the extraction, you do your initial pulls with the Toluene.
Let that evap completely, it will result in a brown/orangish/yellow goo, that seemingly has crystals embedded, when it is dried.
Scrape this up with a razor-blade into a shot glass, with a small amount of Zippo.
Place the shotglass into a small container of boiling water (also known as a water bath).
Stir this around and it will heat up, although one may panic, it's fine see it boiling.
Once it's mixed, a large part of the goo will be dissolved.
Take the shot glass out of the water bath, and let it sit.
Initially the fats will drop to the bottom of glass.
During the transition from clear/slight yellow, to cloudy, transition the liquid into a secondary shot glass.
Repeat the process, moving the second recrystalisation pull into the secondary shot glass.
Then simply throw glad wrap over the top, and throw that into the freezer.
I did this process with a friend last night, and we`ve both done it a number of times with great success.
