Finely shredded vs powdered bark

Swim has shredded some mhrb in a cheap blender. It doesnt work great as its very cheap and has a rubber connecter at the base. Some of it has powdered but the majority is just very finely shredded.

It looks fairly similar to this picture:

Swim is not sure he can get it any finer. Will swim still be able to do an extraction with this. Swim is thinking that it will work but prehaps will have a slightly reduced yeild because there is less surface area than if it were powdered. Is this the case?

If you're doing a STB tek with high enough PH, it should be fine. The lye will break that stuff open just fine. Even with an A/B tek you should be able to get the vast majority out. It just might involve longer cooks or more shaking.

I will let some of the local experts give you the detailed answer, but SWIM has done just fine with such materials.

That's perfectly fine. Like Hyperfool said, high pH will dissolve it completely, or if you are doing AB you will just cook the alkaloids out.

Swim was planning to do A/B marsofold tek which swim previously always did with powdered mrhb. would it be better to do a STB tek or will it be the same, as you said it will cook the alkaloids out?
