So SWIM finally finished his extraction! He was kinda pissed off tho, when he yielded 1.7 gs of spice from 500g of mimosa. :?
He started with 500g of powdered mimosa
used 22.5 mg of water per g of mimosa (11.2 L)
used only 400 g of lye. (this is probably why the yield was so low. will use 500g or maybe even 600 g of lye next time)
the next time SWIM will not recrystalize with heptane, or do a sodium wash, or freeze-precip, and only evap instead. SWIM is going to heat the water and the naptha before hand and will report back on results.
So how long do you guys agitate the naptha for for each pull? SWIM might have been too quick on the pulls in hindsight (15-30ish minutes), this might have been why the yields were so low)
