Rising Star
This happened a few weeks ago. I wrote up the experience within a couple hours of having it. Here is pretty much exactly what I wrote in my notes (I deleted a few personal things). For background, I have previous experience with psilocybin (approximately 10 times, usually use it for insight whenever a significant change has recently occurred in my life) LSA (used several times before I found psilocybin), and nitrous (never really found this too useful though). My purposes for using psychedelics are mainly to gain insight into my own unconscious thought processes, and to learn more about how my mind and the universe work. Anyway, just thought I would share.

Took a small sample, about the size of a match head, and placed in a test tube. Got a straw to inhale the vapor with. Placed a cup to put the test tube and straw in next to the bed. Laid on side. Heated test tube with a lighter until could see white vapor. Inhaled it through straw. Vapor was harsh and made me cough. Inhaled again. Laid back with eyes closed. Could feel some slight body effects and saw some weak closed-eye visuals - just patterns. After minute or two, opened eyes. Everything in the room seemed to have a yellow tint to it. This dissipated within a minute or two. Not much of an experience I thought.
I wanted to try a larger amount, and hold the vapor longer. I waited an hour, so any tolerance would dissipate. This time I used a larger amount - about the size of a pea. I heated slowly with a lighter. But I wasn't seeing any white vapor this time. I heated more, and could see the liquid boiling and condensing on the side of the test tube. I began inhaling, and now I could see the white vapor condensing. I took a long breath and held it. I felt my body growing heavier, so I quickly placed the hot test tube in the cup I had waiting nearby. I had so little time to put the test tube up that I let the straw drop into the test tube, where later I found it had partially melted.
Within just a few seconds, ZOOM! My body felt very heavy as I exhaled, and objects in the room seemed to be split up and flying everywhere. I started to get scared, but I told myself that this was part of the experience and that I would be fine - I just needed to see the experience through. With my eyes open it seemed like objects in the room were everyplace at once, so I closed my eyes. I saw colors but no forms. It seemed like I got into sort of a loop. I would watch the colors for a while, then start to get scared due to the intensity of the experience (particularly body sensations of heaviness and numbness). So I would open my eyes, and everything in the room seemed to be in front of me at once. Still, seeing familiar objects was comforting, and I would forget my fear and close my eyes to see the colors again. This repeated several times. The intensity of the experience didn't seem constant - more like it came and went in waves.
I had a bad taste in my mouth and did not want to swallow. I was drooling, and it seemed important that I not swallow. So I tried to spit into the cup nearby. It was hard to find the coordination and presence of mind to spit into the cup, but eventually I did. The experience continued to come and go in waves, but the intensity was decreasing. I kept my eyes closed. The colors were fading. After what seemed like several more minutes, I opened my eyes again. Everything in the room had a strong yellow hue, and if I stared at objects I saw colors (mostly blue) around the edges of them. I could still see the walls rippling.
When most of the effects were gone, I figured that probably a half hour to 45 minutes had passed. But when I checked the clock, it had only been 10 minutes since I inhaled!
This was an intense and interesting experience, but it happened so suddenly and was over so fast that it doesn't seem I gained much in the way of insights from it. However, kind of like when riding a roller coaster, I have the urge to repeat the experience and will likely do so in the future.
