Within a few days, I will be placing an order for a kg of MHRB from our good friend Pedro and have begun research into the specifics of DMT extraction. In short, I'm astounded by how easy it appears. After scouring the forums, I'm going to follow the basic instructions outlined by others in a previous thread:
1. wash mimosa with acetone to defat
2. mix mimosa 1:1 with sodium carbonate and then add just enough water to make a paste(freebasing spice)
3. DRY mimosa(acetone and water do not mix) make sure its completely dry
4. once dry mix acetone with the resulting powder(mimosa and sodium carbonate) this pulls the freebase spice
5. do the acetone freebase extraction 3 times..save all of this acetone
6. evap acetone down to smaller amount
7. mix 309mg of fumaric acid in 100ml of NEW acetone(this will be enough fumaric acid to salt 1000mg of spice)
8. mix fumaric acid saturated acetone(FASA) with the dmt containing acetone
9. watch dmt fumarate fall out of the solution
10. pour of acetone leaving behind dmt fumarate crytals
11. dry crystals out on a flat surface
Now begins my furious barrage on questions--i'm sorry guys :x .
1. How exactly is an "acetone wash" performed? I've scoured the web for this answer but I can't seem to grasp it--it seems like its just "understood" but I just don't get it. It also appears to be possible through multiple methods. I'm currently located in a place with little access to fancy thingamajiggies like "decanters" and the like--what is the simplest way to go about performing this?
2. It seems that heat and feezing temperatures are not required for this procedure, which saves me from needing to find a location with access to both. I would like to verify this if possible. Do any of the liquid materials need to be pre-heated for this extraction(acetone, H2O, Fumaric Acid)?
3. I've read the Acetone needs to be Anhydrous(without water) and it is most likely that I will find 99.5% acetone in my local hardware store. Magnesium sulfate is rumored to work to remove the water additive, but I also read that anhydrous acetone will reabsorb water from the surrounding air once the process is exposed to a non-pristine environment. Is anhydrous acetone necessary(for both step 1 and 4+)? Is magnesium sulfate sufficient for drying?
Sorry the the quesiton barrage--just a newbie looking to run with the big dogs
