First time, kinda apprehensive...

Migrated topic.

G7

Greg
Ok, so swim did his first extraction of 200grams MHRB. He has about 1.5 grams of yellow powder spice. The last pull seemed even more yellowish and waxy/oily, and not sure why.

Do you suggest smoking the final pull with the waxy powder product or the initial pull with the yellow dryish powder?
Swim is apprehensive of smoking DMT anyways, and want the first time to be as enjoyable as possible.

First pulls usually pull fewer oils from the bark, so my personal preference would be the first stuff.

And don't worry about the apprehesion, it is very normal. I've done it 70+ times and I am apprehensive every time, but wonder why I was after I come back from hyperspace!

Enjoy!

Thanks. Just having almost 2grams of it in the freezer makes swim want to do attempt it. Swim has the place to himself but hes had a few glasses of wine and am not sure if cool to mix. never been this unnerved by a chem, not even tropes! Agh!

BTW, is a sitter recomended?

Do not mix DMT with alcohol. Spice will melt your face off for it... there are threads here about people trying and regretting it. Patience.

Good advice, i kinda like my face.
Yeah i ideally want to try it sober, clean and ready to reflect and learn. I am somewhat spiritual and really want to remember what transpired, any suggestion on the best way to retain the experience.
And do you all suggest a sitter, or no?

You will get different opinions on a sitter. I wanted one the first time I did it, as though I had read a lot, didn't know how it would affect me. Glad I did, but he was a distraction, and looking back I didn't need him there.

If you are lying down after smoking, or on a couch where you can't fall and hurt yourself you'll be fine.

As for alcohol, I would probably not recommend being drunk, though for me, often being a little tipsy helps with the pre-blastoff anxiety. But when I have had a few drinks, I rarely remember anything, sometimes puke on myself, and often times come back saying, "What the fuck just happened to me?!?!?!" So my recommendation would be to be sober in the beginning, it will help you remember. But I also would see no harm in a drink or two to calm nerves before hand. Meditation prior would probably have the same effect if you're into that kind of thing.

Remember, set and setting are everything...if those two are working for you, then jump right in and be changed forever! 8)

Just wanted to say I dosed for my first time tonight, and while in a state of anxiety beforehand, as soon as I felt the effects come on and afterwards, the anxiety was completely disintegrated.

Nice, welcome to spice land!

Same always goes for me as well. I will usually do it 2-3 times in a row, and even though am anxious that first time in a night, once I'm back I'm ready to set up my next journey and the anxiety is completely gone for subsequent voyages.

Why have I been using SWIM?! LOL! if they really want to come beat the door down of current graduate student for a nutural neurotransmitor, so be it.
Sorry had to vent, I've been dealing with alot of legal anxiety lately...

Thanks guys, you both have eased my mind. I really dont mind the apprehension prior to the the smoking, but I more worry how I wil feel afterwards.
I always meditate with proper set and settting when using Sally... I am starting to actually get excited about trying it for the first time!

I'll let you guys know how it goes, probably tomorrow here on this thread. Thanks for the support!

Good to hear you'll be experiencing hyperspace soon G7, and it's nice to see you on the Nexus!

I shall explain some things to ensure that you have a great first time. 'Bad trips' are rare anyway, but I think this should equip you to guarantee a good time. My personal view is this: having a good sitter can be nice, but it isn't necessary. Sometimes SWIM gets a little lonely in hyperspace when he does it alone, but that may just be him. By 'good' all I mean is someone you trust and are close to, who knows to be quiet and only speak when spoken to, and will comfort you with a kind word if you say you're confused.
However, he'd rather go alone than with someone he didn't trust to act as they should.

SWIM was alone for his first time- he started with 40mg. He was apprehensive, but put on some QUIET soothing music, prepared, went in with respect and love, and was rewarded as such. At first in hyperspace he was scared and thought "You've really done it now, you've messed yourself up on drugs". Then he realised that there was nothing he could do about it, and he had to be passive and watch what they wanted to show him. Of course, this fear was unfounded, and the experience unfolded beautifully into one of the most amazing moments of his life.

So here's his tips. Stay sober when you're a beginner- alcohol brings ego death and confusion and dulls the visions, an interesting experience but not the 'real thing'. Prepare. Get comfortable. Go in with respect. Don't worry about being nervous- this is a rollercoaster after all. Fill the bong with a little parsley, then 40-50mg spice, then a little parsley just to cover it to protect it from the flame. Mentally prepare yourself for the fact that the smoke might be harsh- then you're less likely to cough into the bong and send your spice flying out! For safety, use a bic style lighter, not a torch nor one of those ones that doesn't turn off by itself. Hold the lighter near but not touching for a bit, then gently engage, hardly touching, the flame just licking. Rip rip rip! You don't have long before the effects- people say 2 minutes is the window but for him it feels more like 1 tops. Don't worry if a little flame forms above the spice- this happens sometimes, just continue ripping. Inhale and hold for ten. Exhale, then inhale all the rest in your second and final rip, completely filling your lungs. Maybe some people can do it all in one, but he can't! If you know you've managed to rip it all, hold for as long as you can. If you know you haven't hold for at least 10, maybe 20, then finish up the rest. By now you'll be entering hyperspace.

Now you're beginning your travels, close your eyes and relax. The key is to surrender- accept that you have given yourself over to the vision and enjoy it passively. In SWIM's experience, people only have a bad time when they try to control what they're seeing, when they don't accept it. If you're in shock at first, don't worry because this is normal- it's your first time being shot out of a spiritual cannon after all! People sometimes worry about their breathing or heart rate- don't worry, your body will continue working just fine, any such fears are all in your head and due to 'timebending' and sensory 'enhancement'. Now don't be alarmed by all this talk- now you've heard it, you'll be fine. You're going to have an amazing time, and you'll be shown beauty like you've never seen before.

You've had your eyes closed for the whole journey. Once the visions fade to grey (bye bye to the elves!), open your eyes and view the world through the DMT afterglow.

That's SWIM's technique anyway. I hope I haven't overcomplicated things! If you keep your eyes open the world may become unrecognisable, which can be confusing for a beginner, so save that experiment for when you have more experience. Don't worry if you don't see elves or get past 2D images into a 3D/'4D' visionary stage- for some people it takes a while to perfect the smoking technique. Let us know how it goes when you're done! :)

the LAST thing you need to worry about it how you're going to feel AFTERWARDS!!! LOL!! you're going to be reborn my brother and that is ALWAYS a GOOD thing!!

other than that, ohayoco has pretty much given you a solid "tek" and i recommend a similar approach. one thing i also do is when i've taken my last hit and held it in, i get a mantra (usually just one word: LOVE) and as i exhale my last hit i say this word.....it then becomes the "frequencey" to which i blast off. GRATITUDE, THANK YOU, PEACE, JOY, SURRENDER.....all good ones and i've tried 'em all.

surrender.

you are about to be given a tremendous gift.

....then come back and tell us about it!!!!!

LOVE AND GRATITUDE!!

Here is SWIM's two cents:

A sitter isn't an absolute necessity, but if you have a trusted friend who is psychedelics savvy and will sit very quietly with you, it can only be a plus. If you get as far as breaking through, you're going to lose motor control. This can be tricky in so far as handling a pipe and lighter are concerned (especially if you are smoking out of glass), so if you have someone sitting next to you who can handle the lighter and take the pipe away from you as you flop, you'll have one less concern to depart with. The first hit is the most important, and if you do it right you'll be feeling it hugely by the time you exhale. Subsequent hits get trickier as you are struggling to maintain motor skills (and your decreasing hold on reality) long enough to get them. SWIM doesn't have leather lungs, so it generally takes him three big hits (and sometimes four) to get through 50mgs.

Music is nice, but nothing with a beat or (especially) lyrics - and the more formless and ethereal the better. A lot of people prefer absolute silence - both seem to have their place. SWIM recommends closed eyes throughout - in fact, he prefers to use a sleep mask to block out light and discourage peeking. The peak will end pretty abruptly, and you'll know when it's time to open them up and explore your real world surroundings. And as far as which pull to go with initially, this is strictly a matter of taste. Some people prefer the added color that residual oils provide. SWIM prefers the whitest, glassiest product he's capable of producing. It's just a different ride, that's all. You'll find which suits you best.

But SWIM's top three tips - and these cannot be overstated... 1) Surrender. 2) Surrender. 3) Surrender. Do not try to analyze the experience while you're in it - you'll have every minute of the following month to obsess over where you've been. Don't attempt to decode or catalogue or steer in any way. And most importantly, don't break it down linguistically. This is a very different experience than Salvia (and in respects a much more lucid one), but there is just no reconciliation between "here" and "there" when you have truly broken through. Any linguistic attempts (and I'm talking about an inner monologue here, not actual speaking) will fail miserably and take you in potentially fearful directions. Try to resist the need to understand what it is you're going through. Just let go, try and pay attention, and don't get hung up on the framing of it. This is pure experience. The more you surrender, the deeper you'll go and the more likely you are to enjoy it.

Bon voyage, brother. You are about to have a very special experience. Come back with some tales of the impossible.

Good advice, Art. That's the kind of advice I'm looking for myself.

Ultimately though, I hope EVENTUALLY, one can find a way to incorporate perspective/"framing" during the experience. Do you feel that's PERMANENTLY impossible or imprudent?

For SWIM, real world perspective (at very high doses) just isn't a possibility. This is both the beauty and the most frustrating part of the experience (for him). Some appear able to frame or steer it, but he just isn't really one of them. And the most terror filled trips he's had have all been a result of the need to process. There are, however, valuable lessons here. Why, for example, does he need to understand? Why the need for control? Is an experience only real or of value if it can be reconstructed linguistically? The spice tells him emphatically no, though resisting the urge isn't easy.

In SWIM's idealized recollections (as it's now been a month and a half since he's been), the experience is a reduction to (or maybe more accurately a reunion with) the collective, or what he thinks of as the "isness". You will understand what I'm saying afterwards, I believe - it's just not possible to fathom beforehand, but this is as close as you will ever come to commitment to the here and now. Clearly, you're a thinker, Swimfriend - and while this may serve you well in the aftermath, it can be a detriment in the moment. Letting go and allowing yourself to become one with the ether - WITHOUT ANY 3rd PARTY DIAGNOSTICS - is the path to the deepest journies (for SWIM), and certainly the least turbulent.

The fact is, if it were easily comprehensible and easy to conceptualize I wouldn't be as eager for it as I am.

Your advice is compelling...GALVANIZING, actually. It's seems foolhardy to ignore...

Most importantly G7, have fun! The spice has an amazing power to calm and caress you and generally abolishes any type of fear you might have once you have entered. The only time I ever had fear during travel was when I started thinking about my external life. Just be a caterpillar in a cocoon of love and wonder, and enjoy the ride for what it is. NOTHING else matters once you've entered.
Some might argue otherwise, but I like to do a small "priming" dose before I do the big blast off. I find it calms me and better prepares me for what is to come.

Looking forward to your report!!

Peace

indeed. much wisdom and down-right brotherly love in this nexus....seriously.....ponder this notion for a second:
imagine if this nexus DIDN'T exist and people weren't able to have SO MUCH VALUABLE INFORMATION/EXPERIENCE prior to using the spice...

....i for one, read a LOT here before first going into hyperspace....and my first journey was INCREDIBLE. i owe a lot of that to the peace of mind i gained by spending hours a day in this forum...

G7 my friend- just surrender and know in your heart of heart that EVERYONE COMES BACK. noone ever DOESN'T come back. really the only thing that can scare you is the eternal quality you will experience because it is coupled with a death of the ego. your ego NEEDS a sense of time to exist so when you get into hyperspace and time has no meaning, your ego faces annihilation. if you are willing to let go of that made up, thin construct...you will be rewarded with an experience of the INFINITY that you truly are.

can't wait to hear about it brother! and do it when and only when you feel called to it. set and setting are EVERYTHING. when all is perfect, go. this wonderful forum will take on an whole new depth for you when you get back from hyperspace. that i guarantee you!

LOVE AND GRATITUDE!!
