Hello everyone,
A friend of mine sent me a letter detailing his very first time psychedelic experience that occurred last night using DMT. His previous experiences with substances begin and end with very mild use of Cannabis (perhaps 15 times total). I will quote what he said to me.
"
Last night I had collected my first extraction of 40g MHRB and was ready to test the waters. The plan entailed bringing a girlfriend of mine over to my place(on her request) who I had previously instructed to educate herself as much as possible on DMT and the psychedelic experience the same day. She is heavy into psychology and was very enthusiastic about reading on the effects of the molecule as well as treating "bad trips". I had initially wanted to go solo, but she is such a caring, accepting, objective, and loving person that I thought it would be beneficial to have her with me.
The setting was at my place after sunset. The room is very warm with tranquil colors, plants, and a great view of the sea, mountains, and city below. I lit several dozen candles as well as some incense when she arrived. We both spent sometime quietly talking together listing to soothing ambient music, and I was going over with her what she had read, as well as my expectations and my procedure that I would follow. The method of administration was going to be smoking from a hookah using a mix of wet tobacco and spice.
I was in good spirits, and had recently been enjoying the company of several friends that day, as well as feeling great about trying psychedelics for the first time. I had previously spent some time developing a purpose for entering into the experience, which became simply to "enter respectfully into the DMT realm as a quiet observer, neither wanting to give or take anything, but merely opening myself fully objectively to the experience as it comes, whatever it may be" as well as determining wether it is something I should fear. This I repeated to myself a few times during the day, as well as before dosing myself.
I prepared the hookah. I took 2 pinches of hookah tobacco, added approximately 30mg of spice and with my fingers mixed it all together. I put this mix into the bowl and told my friend to light a coal and bring everything to me in 5 minutes. During this time I did deep breathing and focused on relaxation. After 5 minutes, she brought the ready hookah to me. Lying down on my corner sofa, I started to smoke. I took 3 preliminary hits to get the tobacco burning, and then proceeded to hold in the smoke for 20 seconds at a time. No effect. I started smoking normally for 10 min. Still no effect. I decided to re-arm the hookah a little differently. I discarded the mix inside, took a pinch of tobacco, and flattened it out with my fingers. I placed it inside the bowl and then using a silver knife placed approximately 60mg of spice in a mound on top of it. We repeated the same procedure. This time I could definitely tell there was a special taste to the smoke. I held it in as before. I started feeling a bit strange but nothing special whatsoever. This time, I re-armed the hookah with approximately 100mg of spice (my extraction is starting to disappear!) and said if this doesn't work, I don't have any other ideas. I started to smoke. I started feeling stranger, and after a while felt a numbing sensation pulsating through my limbs. When I closed my eyes, I would see some strange things like explosions of color and color "tentacles", but not vivid at all as I had read in other reports. I then started seeing my room start to "breath" momentarily. I started feeling somewhat euphoric, and, although hard to explain, almost heard a voice (not using words, but almost through feelings) say everything is going to be ok. You don't have anything to fear. It was like something was waiting for me with open arms but I simply was not able to tell what. Upon closing my eyes, I saw what appeared to be a dim tunnel in front of me momentarily comprised of green/blue/black trapezoidal shapes leading somewhere far off into the distance. I don't know where it lead, but I simply got dim glimpses of this tunnel-like thing. I was told later at this point I was smiling and staring off into a corner of the room with my right hand opening and closing constantly, and occasional fully body fidgets.
Unfortunately, I found the need to "fix" the coal, and instead made it explode all over my sofa and new, extremely expensive carpet. This was to conclude my experience, leaving me in a somewhat confused position lamenting over my carpet and drifting in and out of the strange trance.
My friend helped clean up what she could (the sofa and carpet are destroyed ) and take me to her place to sleep. I was confused and dizzy the whole trip there. Upon arrival, I ate some food, and decided it would be a good idea to go to sleep. I started to get a bad headache, and she gave me a painkiller before I passed out.
"
This concludes his first psychedelic experience ever. Besides the tragedy of the sofa and carpet ( ) he was wondering why he did not experience the intense "launch" mentioned by so many others. Half his extraction is gone, and he had very minimal effects leaving him somewhat disappointed. At the same time however, he is happy to have heard the voice instructing him not to fear the spice. Perhaps it was a good thing he didn't blast off right away..?
Anyhow, he says he will go to the store and pick up a glass bong or pipe and start from square one again, because he does not want to make anymore precious spice disappear into the hookah. Any comments on what went wrong?
