Hey everyone. SWIM has lurked the forums for a long time. Reading, learning. Over this time, he's had questions that he would have liked answered. The search function is great, but he may like to participate in active discussions every once in a while..so, SWIM requests full membership :p

While SWIM's at it...if anyone out there uses Whatman 1PS Phase Separator papers, SWIM has a question for SWIY.
SWIM understands that their most novel use is as a replacement for separatory funnels, but this is limited to denser-than-water solvents.

What about 91% IPA or acetone? Can these solvents be dried using a 1PS filter and vacuum filtration? Anhydrous magnesium sulfate works well, but that process requires additional work. If 1PS filters can dry acetone and IPA, as a prefilter or with conjunction with another qualitative filter, they would also help decrease the time needed for SWIM's freebasing technique (coincidentally SWIM's most disliked process).

Besides that, the filters just sound cool.
