Being and nothingness
Hello all,
Some of you may know me from The Shroomery where I have over 1000 posts. A couple of members from there as well as a "real-life" friend of mine have recommended that I join this community so I will provide a bit of background and information on myself.
Intro/Summary
I am currently studying materials science and engineering at an amazing university in the United States. I am studying organic chemistry now so I am very interested in the chemical and pharmacological aspects of the drug experience. I live with my wonderful girlfriend whom I share much in common with. I have strong but open philosophical and political beliefs but I am open minded and respectful.
Spirituality and Philosophy
As far as religion and spirituality go, I consider myself an agnostic. I was raised as a Christian but after pondering the meaning of "man is imperfect" I recanted many of my beliefs. I am very scientifically minded but I am open to all sorts of ideas and philosophies. I particularly enjoy existentialist philosophy that focuses on freedom of choice and personal responsibility. I also consider myself a secular humanist.
Drug use
I believe in the benefits of responsible and informed drug use. I understand that all types of drugs can be use in very positive or very negative ways. It mostly depends on the attitude, mindset, and self-control of the user. I am mostly interested in psychedelics but I also have experience in many other types of drugs. I have never harmed myself with drugs because I understand the importance of the mind and the body. I mostly enjoy the different perspectives I gain while on drugs. I have only smoked DMT twice. But both times were incredible and beneficial. For other psychedelics, I have experience with mushrooms, LSD, and 25i-nbome. I also have many stories about these experiences.
Fun
I absolutely love music. I have played guitar for about eight years. I also play didgeridoo, bass guitar, djembe, jaw harp, and some keyboard/piano. I enjoy many types of music but my favorite artists are The Beatles, The Grateful Dead, and Phish. I enjoy many types of jazz, rock, funk, classical, folk, electronic, classical Indian music, downtempo, minimalist, bluegrass, and more.
I love going to music festivals. I have probably met some of you at festivals.
I also really enjoy nature. I achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in boy scouts when I was younger and I have camped and hiked in many, many places.
I love reading and learning. My main goal in life is to accumulate knowledge and spread understanding and positive perspectives.
I enjoy playing video games. I almost never watch tv but I like to play video games almost every night.
I have been closely following politics for seven years. I am quite liberal and I have many specific beliefs. I mostly align with the Democratic party but do not let that fool you into believing that I am a "sheep" that does not think. I do not agree with the Democrats on everything and I believe the current political system is in need of major changes.
I also like to golf but it is so darn expensive. So I haven't been able to for awhile.
Conclusion
I am glad to be joining your community and I hope I am accepted here as an equal. Hopefully I can be both a student and a teacher here.
Namaste,
