Note:  The following is nothing but personal opinions of a 44 year old psychonaut - I am not a doctor or therapist or counselor and this is not meant to be any advice of that nature.

Greebus,

Wow what a fascinating Introduction Essay!  Thank you so much for sharing and Welcome to the Nexus!

Great to see another explorer with a little life experience - I also first joined the Nexus at age 41, so I immediately resonated with that part of your essay.

Your experience is fascinating to me.  I'm sure many would like to label it psychotic or another kind of break brought on by stress, but given my own experiences, your resonating with your aunt's advice and the overall short duration (six days) as well as it's lack of return ("Ever since then, I have been trying to get back there." ) I'm not so sure.  I certainly did resonate with it though in terms of my own "midlife crisis" which brought me here.

I want to warn you about something no doubt you already know my brother in journeying . . . and that is that you will never ever get back there, no matter how hard you try.  It is NOT worth trying to chase that particular "bliss" state you experienced.  You will run into wall after wall after wall.  But, if you open yourself to the journey and I think you have, it is ongoing and one revelation leads to the next set of questions leads to . . . . you know kind of like your professional life (I hope). . . .

I think if you dig around this place (you can post anywhere in the Welcome Area but once logged on you can see the entire contents of the whole forum) you will find some fascinating and recent research regarding the human pineal gland.  I hope you will not be disappointed to come to learn that it has NOT been found to have any DMT in it - apparently it's mainly full of melatonin and a bit of pinoline.  Perhaps other Nexians will correct me here or make this more fine but that is the heart of the matter.

I want to encourage you to NOT drop your search/explorations/journey though.  There is so much to see here.  From various entheogenic plants that can safely induce altered states of mind that allow us bliss, exploration, insights and if all goes well, growth, . . . to meditation and other non-"drug" methods for reaching altered/blissful/more insightful states of mind.

It's amazing to feel an "awakening" at this point in life is it not?  I hope you will enjoy this time.  Please make yourself at home and ask questions as they come up.

Again, welcome to the Nexus.
