Growing Water Layer & Shrinking Solvent Layer

Strange things are going on in SWIMS mixture. It went good the first try while retrieval of xtals was difficult for certain environment reasons they are being addressed.

SwIMS newest problemi s that no matter how much naptha is poured into the container the brown mixture gets higher and the naptha layer actually gets smaller but t he height of the total mixture is much bigger than started so SWIM believes that the naptha is still present but just not surfacing.. SWIM tried a hot water bath for about 5 minutes and saw no results...plans to try it for longer but evene overnight there's barely any separation. SWIM hasn't had this problem with the exact same mixtures...could the naptha gone bad?

what is your water/ bark ratio? Sometimes if the soup is too thick the naptha gets lost. Id try 1.5 to 2 L per 100 g powdered bark. Also, I add 60g of non-iodized salt per L of water if I have thick emulsions... can't hurt.

SWIM used salt, with a 1gmhrb: 1glye: 15ml water and tried to use naptha sparingly which worked a little but not with this batch... there's a 1/4 inch layer of naptha barely while the level of the total mixture is about 1.5 inches higher than it started and SWIM poured in way more naptha then what's been extracted.

SWIM was inspecting imxture and realized it's really 3 layers in the mixture...the bottom one is black and is about 75% to the point the water should be...then a huge emulsion it looks like...then a very thin strip on naptha...pictures may not display the darker/lighter layers as clear but there's definitely a difference. SWIM didn't have this problem in the beginning, just as time went on...I started my extraction with salt and 50g lye:50g mhrb: 750ml water

if it were my gerbil.... more lye. Make a high ph solution (carefully) wait for the heat reaction to subside and (carefully) pour it in. Once the jug cools try a long hot water bath in the sink. He would make sure the water level of the hot bath comes up to the level of the emulsion.

He also adds salt but he's not sure if that actually helps.

On future extractions you may be able to avoid emulsion by mixing more gently.

Best of luck.

did all things and no progress at all...SWIM got extremely frustrated and started a 3rd batch while hot bath was going on...when 2nd batch had not progressed SWIM was so frustrated SWIM essentially said fuck it and disposed of said batch...

1st try of dmt and SWIM was highly impressed...without aliens but completely "mental" ...only in the aspect that until the peak subsided and SWIM thought to move and felt the prescence of moving SWIM's body was not even a thought

wow man, sorry I took so long to get here, but add more water.

Anytime you add solvent to solution and the solution sides rises, you need more water.

SWIM added more water...added more lye...there was already probably like 100-200 ml of naptha in the giany layer...very strange but nothing worked even w/ heat bath for a little while but SWIM has nice xtals from 3rd batch :)

pour out half, add more water, shake, let sit, see if that fixes it.

edit - By pour out I mean pour half into another container.

it didnt help SWIM but someone on another si te recommended separating out the top 2 layers and adding some naptha and a heat bath to see if it separates...not sure if it will work but maybe adding alot of lye & water first to the toal mixture but SWIM was also informed about lye-lock? and would look into it. but SWIM just discarded and made another batch that seems to work well so far.

maybe if you take the top 3 layers and add some water & lye in proportion to each other (15ml:1g) and after giving a heat bath see if anything changed...then possibly add naptha and this would hopefully allow the entire emulsion to separate but just a proposal not positive it will work

If it was lye lock it would be lots of bubbles 1 or 2 laysers. Fixing lye lock is to add lye.
If its all purple and one layer when you add naptha, you need to add water.

SWIM tried the water & naptha and heat and nothing solved a problem so the 50g mixture was abandoned and new extractions SWIM informs me are going very well
