What is the diameter of the Classic VG and GVG Sherlock silicon carbine ceramic piece? I am thinking of buying a ceramic disc from 7th Floor or VG, but Healthstone won't fit into the GVG Sherlock. I want to vaporize off of this inert material instead of mesh or wire or ribbon. However, the size I need after grinding it down is somewhere between 7/16" and 9/16", but there is a indented lip on the inside of the GVG Sherlock, which is why the disc will need to be less than 9/16". What is the diameter at the height of the bowl where the indented lip is? I suppose that is a more important question.

The size discs I got were 7/16. They drop right onto the mesh screen in the bowl section that comes installed from Vapor Genie below the tapered pinch on the bottom of the bowl.

As for the size of the Vapor Genie ceramic element in the top plug, thats likely 7/16. If you wanted to take it out to measure with a caliper, you need to remove the little gold band that holds it in.

Which company sold you the discs? I know 7th Floor has 7/16" ceramic foam discs. I've read that the 7/16" size will cover the center and touch the edge, but 9/16" will catch onto the tapered pinch and not fall to the bottom.

I am thinking of buying a larger disc and reducing the edging. Which tool should I use to reduce the 18mm volcanic rock health stone, the silicon carbide vapor genie filter disc, and the ceramic 7th floor ceramic disc to the ideal roundness and even diameter so it will fill most of the bowl but drop onto the vapor pathway beneath the tapered pinch?

There is a tapered indented lip in the bowl of the Glass Sherlock Vapor Genie, and I want to know what the inner diameter of the bowl is at that point? Any GVG owners able to chime in with a measurement?

I got from 7th floor. The 7/16ths fall in nicely. Ill try to get a photo in a bit to show you.

If you got the larger and wanted to make it smaller Id say a dremel or a belt sander while holding the disc with some needlenose pliers.

You have to be careful with the discs because they are still delicate.

There is no reason for you to have created a second thread about almost the same thing. You could have easily asked this question in your other thread, then measurements of all those things could be in a single thread.

Where would I find those tools if I weren't going to buy them? Maybe pay for a single usage or something? Like a woodshop or would it be at a metalshop? Or what kind of professional would have those tools? Or what kind of school class would have those tools?

I've never had one, yet. the purpose of getting these measurements is for additional pieces that may work with the custom modifications the GVG is capable of.

Also, is there a difference in the size of the Classic VG ceramic filter and the GVG Sherlock filter?

...I don't get it.

You can make something like the green buddha, but if you purchase the flame/heat decreaser (the glass piece that holds the ceramic pad) from vapor genie, then it will come with the ceramic pad in it.

If you buy a different decreaser, then just measure that once you get it, then add a ceramic pad accordingly.

Am I just missing the point or are you making this way more complicated than it needs to be?

Does it make sense to buy the health stone glass pipe with the inner cooler and implement a flame source diffuser like the vapor genie and have the best pipe, or is it the other consensus that vapor genie will still have the best results? HSG has inner cooler while VG has what exactly?

Well, considering the HSG inner-cooler pipe isn't designed to have a decreaser go on top, I'd imagine that the GVG is going to be more efficient.

And you would definitely burn much of the spice if you use the HSG and don't use one. Which, looking at the HSG pipes it doesn't look like it would be easy to find one that fit. Those don't look like regular 14 or 18mm attachments.

In terms of the innercooler aspect, the GVG has a much bigger chamber, and a large disc in the middle of that chamber which acts as a vortex and cools air that way.

I love my GVG and I use it for cannabis, thc concentrates, dmt, and changa alike.

Well it is simple enough to use a belt sander or dremel to reduce the diameter of the stone so it fits deeper into the bowl so you can fit two, even reducing the thickness would be no problem.

So that's about the same size of the one that we purchased from an Australian online shop for AU$ 7,00. It's 11.1mm and it's pretty okay quality for that price. Anyway, we are using it halfway inside a short 18mm to 14mm glass adapter to simulate GVG style (heat shield).To do that it needs some copper thread binding around it so we can get a snug fit. But we heard of other Nexians who are using it inside the GVG chamber (after grinding down that lip/or having the older model GVG) We made a photo. Here:

If we was them, we would use a small (electric) dremel with the right top piece. Anyway, do you own a GVG or are you still unsure what to buy?
We use this, this and this in combination with above ceramic disc (inserted in the small 18mm to 14mm short decreaser).

It also works as a bubbler and it stands upright when putting it down :surprised . No lips here. Free shipping. All in all US$ 40.00 for all the glass plus AU$ 7.00 for the ceramic plus some bucks for some brillo, screens and volcano liquid pad (we had these).Can use birdness method. We made this work for under $50.00 and it looks nice (enough). All pieces have multiple uses and can be adapted in our waterpipe, ashcatcher...etc. If any part breaks, we can get cheap replacements. No life-long warranty needed.

Of course, these j-hooks come in a variety of styles, obviously, you get what you pay for..

This is precisely the kind of thing that also turns a bong into a gvg style vape bong- an absolute weapon. Without the pinch in the glass that some pipes including the GVG has, I've seen a screen pushed down as a base if the fittings are too wide for the ceramic filter used.
