Harmala and the soul of Aya

Hello travelers

A quick question for those who had experienced both Ayahuasca brew
And the refined pharmahuasca cointaining specifically harmalas from the B. Caapi vine.

Would you say that the soul of mother Ayahuasca is still retained after the alkaloid purification process ?

Hi there,

What’s your conclusion based upon reading on the nexus and the countless experience reports out there? And how would you describe the soul of mother aya?

I mean give us some context and show some effort on your part, it makes any discussion much more interesting and meaningful.

Take care

I cant compare with Pharma, but I can share my own impression comparing with Ayahuasca analogs like MHRB, ACRB with Syrian rue. They all have their own distinct "personalities" for me. But Ayahuasca based on Caapi in shipibo type ceremonies for me definitely have a more divine guiding "presence". Mind you, the style of ceremonies themselves highly influences the experience. But in short, yes I feel Caapi changes things compared to Rue.

But that's my subjective experience, and different caapi based brews have different "personalities" and a wide range of different ad mixes. And I've had many spiritual healing experiences with different analogs. But generalized, this is my subjective feel:

MHRB with rue - Very direct/confronting "In your face", sometimes unforgiving. But extremely rewarding if willing to "do the work". Very colorful, towards darker colors. Especially red dominates. Very powerful "rewards" towards the end of ceremonies. Majority of my experiences is with MHBR.

ACRB with rue - my favorite of home brews. Very bright, colorful, yellow/white/golden. More forgiving, a kinder love than MHBR. Softer personality, perhaps more feminine.

Chaliponga with rue - darkest of the home-brews I've made, but not in a bad way. really liked it. Almost a black/white theme to it. Less colorful, but extremely emotional. Had one of my most powerful experiences vaping Changa on the comedown from this brew. Mind you this was during my deepest "Aya Phase"

Traditional Caapi/Chakruna - Definitely the most spiritual, more guiding. The most influencal and spiritual experiences ive had was shipibo ceremonies. This may be due to external factors, but I definately feel a femionine guiding/comforting/loving presence. (sometimes very tough love lol). Given the choice, I would pick traditional every time. I also vastly prefer Shipibo style over Huni Kuin / Kaxinawá. Although there are sides of the Shipibo beliefs im less enthusiastic about. (Huni Kuin / Kaxinawá was very "busy" externalized, celebratory vs the more individual style healing of shipibo)

I think the main thing with say Syrian Rue for example compared to Caapi is that people generally don't seem to work with the Rue thoroughly enough, especially by getting up in the heavier Harmala dosage territory, the thing with Rue is you don't wanna take over 4 grams of Rue because 4 grams is plenty strong enough, but taking 4 grams daily or a few times a week allows you to build up the Harmala reverse tolerance and it takes you deeper into the Harmala territory, one can also do this with Harmala extracts as well. But as you get up in the Harmala dosage, effects start to come out that aren't really there in lower dosages. With traditional Ayahuasca, they tend to go heavy on the Caapi, whereas with Rue one can only take so much because it's much more potent and the background compounds definitely can make things uncomfortable compared to Caapi. But the Spirit of Aya is in the Harmalas, and that applies to Caapi, Rue, other Harmala-containing plants, as well as Harmala extracts. When most people dose Rue or Harmala extract, they don't have as much compared to what may be in a traditional Caapi-based Aya brew.

With that said, the background compounds of the plants do contribute and make up the personality/characteristics of the plant, or what some folks see as the "spirit" of the plant, and so of course one plant will be different from the other in terms of how it feels and some of it's effects and it's personality, but the Spirit of Aya is in the Harmalas and can be accessed through Caapi, or Rue, or extracts, ime. Though the background compounds are often times a desired component as Harmala extracts ime/to me feel more isolated and i much prefer a more full spectrum synergistic feel.

Personally i use Rue, been taking it for 12 straight years on the daily/near daily, with some extracts or Caapi here and there, i find i like the Rue personally more than Caapi, but Caapi is nice too, Rue just has more going on compared to Caapi. It doesn't matter what i use though, it's all Harmalas and DMT and as such i get the same results either way, just flavored differently.

You might have spoken about this before, but what is your daily intake with rue and what purpose and benefits have you seen with it over the 12 years, and has it evolved?

Well i started out taking it regularly because i was taking the DMT regularly, and so had the DMT in the mix from the get go for 4 years straight, then when i felt like i needed to take a break from the DMT side i kept taking the Rue/Harmalas/Caapi to stay connected with the Harmala side. Usually my dosage was 3 to 4 grams taken nightly or near nightly, and within the last few years i've explored lower dosages and taking lower dosages like 2 to 3 times a day, but overall i seem to always come back to 3 to 4 grams as i find that most effective. For me i use it mainly as an anti-depressant but it has quite a few medicinal properties/benefits and feels healthy to me. For the most part though the more shamanic/mystical side of things seems to be mainly with the DMT, so without the DMT in the mix it's more medicinal than anything, just feels like an anti-depressant for the most part alongside some like muscle relaxative properties, vasodilation, pain relief, and some other things. It really cleans up nicely in the long run though, all the side-effects go away completely while the main benefits stick around, so after a few weeks of regular consumption the nausea/vomiting goes away, the bodyload cleans up, the motor impairment goes away, and as the reverse tolerance increases and the Harmala content gets even stronger, you can really go into heavy Harmala/Aya territory, which becomes quite evident with the DMT in the mix but with the Rue/Harmalas on it's own it's not as noticeable.
