Has anyone used the 'Soil Mender' brand of d-limonene and was it successful?

I've only found one mention of it on the nexus so far but I'm not sure if anyone has actually tried it... I am using limonene for the first time and haven't been able to get a successful end product as of yet.

Has anyone used this brand successfully?

Well it says it's pure d-limonene.

Extract it from it's vessel and check it out. If it's translucent, I don't see a reason not to use it or why it wouldn't work.

yeah, seems ok. Why dont you email the brand company and ask them if there's anything appart from limonene, and if they have some GC-MS analysis or at least an MSDS of the product ?

I would guess you are fine but emailing is never a bad idea

So dodgy when you look at 'Customers who bought this also bought', IPA, glass turkey baster, mg scales and lye... "erm, I'm not extracting DMT, honest!" xD

Swim and another nexian tried this stuff and they both had the same problem with it. Fumerate wouldn't crash out, (don't know if it even pulled anything yet). Talked about both blabs and both got this weird solid, sticky orange layer on the bottom of the jars, no fumerate crystals. You can try but I would pay the extra money and get the limonene from a reputable chemical supplier.

Did you look at BLAB tek? It mentions having this orange layer on the bottom. It might have to do with your IPA being wet, and/or adding the fumarates too fast, and/or your limonene having pulled too many impurities. Just dry that, and wash, or re-a/b, you'll have clean stuff

(again, dont know about this specific limo but this has happened with me even with pure limo)

Yeah the orange layer was described as a "goo." The goo is there but there were this other crystallike solid layer that is still sticky after 2 weeks. Asked about it in the chat, no one knew. I'll try what you said, but i still suspect this soil mender stuff. Both blabs on separate attempts were done to the letter, fasi was added 10ml at a time. An msds for it is not on the internet, should've emailed, I'm curious if its really pure or has another agent in it which would cause this strange precip.

@Elicius - The problem here sounds similar...Q21's salting method was tried a few times as it's very quick but it hasn't worked yet - each time an orange sticky 'earwax' is created, but it doesn't melt, barely burns (even with a torch lighter), and smells slightly of spice. I may try a fumarate just for fun but at this point I think a different brand will be ordered as well. Thanks for the replies!

thats a differen thing, one thing is salting with vinegar, which always IME leaves a very impure product, and another is with FASI salting, which can leave very pure product or a bit more impure one. But even the impure fumarates can much more easily be cleaned, while the acetates never really become pure crystals IME.

Ok thanks endlessness - I will give FASI a try. I have some old bark and was going to give FASW a try especially for any oxides that have built up...guess I should try both and see how they work. Thanks again!

If you want to make the community a great contribution, divide your limonene pulls in 2 and with one half do FASW, with the other do FASI. Take pictures, weight the final products of each type of process, maybe bioassay them to compare subjectively too, clean them up or recrystallize if they are impure and you want, documenting all the steps, and share with us the results. This would be very appreciated!!

Just make sure the divided pulls are the same, in other words, that either each pull you separate in 2 or that you mix together different pulls and then separate in 2 equal halves, because if you do, say, FASI on first pull and FASW on second pull or whatver, then the comparison wont be accurate.

@endlessness - ok I understand what you suggest regarding splitting one pull into two halves and trying FASI on half A and FASW on half B. I would love to do this if I have the time available in the next week or two. I also think I will order some green terpene and just be prepared to wait a month for it to arrive just to be sure the problem isn't with the solvent in the first place (argh!!!).

I'm the "other" nexian Elicius is referring too... This stuff did not work for me, and now I'm so emotionally scarred from the experience that I don't know if I'll ever try an A/B again. It really sucks, because I'd much rather use an environmentally friendly extraction method.

So, until the pain fades away... Nomans it is!!

Thanks for chiming in entheogenadvocate! I've used Q21's A/B tek many many times but always with naphtha pulls and until I recently used some OLD bark, I always had great results at 1%+ yields. It's quick, easy, safe, and yields a pretty darn good product w/o need to re-x imo

I only tried to go the limo route because my yield with this bark is now around 0.3% with naphtha. I thought all the goodies might have converted to n-oxide over time and I might be able to pull them with the limo.

I think I may just bail on these experiments and wait for the new limo to arrive before spending more time.
