Has this ever happened before to you? Astral viewing or something...

So I usually spend sometime meditating before bed, and I've been trying to reach a state where my body is completely relaxed but my mind is alert and open. It's a state I've found helpful even when taking spice trips, but even more helpful when meditating.

But night before last I had a weird experience while doing this. I was incredibly relaxed in bed, and I'm not sure what happened next really but next thing I knew I was seeing my backyard. I could see the sky above me and the back of the house in front of me, it wasn't very bright and I couldn't see colors very well but it was very clear. I stayed there for about a second before I became aware of my body again and was back in bed. I managed to reach this relaxed state again, and I found by focusing my energy and mind on being in my backyard I could go there. I somehow managed to do this 3 times that night, each time trying to stay longer and at one point I realized I could 'turn my head' and actually looked at my neighbors house before I got sucked back to my bed. I started to really enjoy this, and at the end of all this I focused again and this time I asked whatever spirit guides I had to 'take me someplace I'd like'. Then it felt as if I was flying and I had grey clouds above me, and this amazing view of mountains before me for a brief few seconds.

I've actually had things like this happen once before while meditating at night, but it seems to happen when I'm not really expecting it. The only memorable things I saw the first time was this lady at home, just kinda straitening up her kitchen or something, I had this feeling it was a friend of mine or someone I knew but it was so short I couldn't tell. And I was paying more attention to 'what is she doing?' than who she was. The next thing was the view of a small city in a valley between hills. It was at night and I was floating above it just below the clouds, watching it drift out of sight.

For some reason, it seems like when I become aware of what's actually happening I get sucked back. And breathing trough my nose helps lol.

So has this ever happened before? I'm probably just crazy.

There is some kind of magnetism that keeps the soul attached, except sometimes...
...we are shown what we are capable of, and each and every time
is an opportunity to learn more about these things.

I get similar experiences, whenever I am "snoozing" I will drift off and be staring at objects, or scenes that are completely different. Yet it feels absolutely normal. And as you said I will be taken back to my body when I realize that this "scene" is really practical.

Yes I reach the same state in my meditations. It's when you're completely open and relaxed. Your mind has reached a point of silence that is up there with the sleep realms. It definitely is a form of astral projection.

I was in it so deep once my whole body seized up and I left my body and it was a really scary but rushing euphoric feeling I don't know what made me scared about it, it was just unexpected and sudden. You can then travel to places and they seem very real. I think it is a DMT release in the brain as well as the places you visit in your head seem very real

yea this happens to me all the time. It has some similarities with harmalas, i find

Carl Jung was tapping deep into this area and it would also occur as he went about his waking life, eyes open

For me, this has seldom happened.

From my understanding, we are able to "astral project" or 'remote view" (The Men Who Stare at Goats reference). The thing is, as soon as we start to "analyze" what we are seeing, we are "sucked" back.

One experience I had, I was traversing a series of corridors. Eventually I reached a room. When I entered the room I saw the left (?) side of the room. Up to this point I had simply allowed myself to "travel". When I was in the room, I wanted to see what was on the right (?) side. When I tried to "control" myself to looking at the right side, I was immediately pulled out of it. When I asked my master about it, the analyzing element was explained to me. (I can't remember which was left and which was right)

This concept of "analyzing" what is perceived in meditation, to my current understanding, is essentially the same as becoming aware during lucid dreaming. If you are "over" excited by realising you are dreaming, your excitement ends the dream. Same thing with analyzing.
