hcl

Migrated topic.
this kid's wombat used hcl (naoh for base) in an a/b, and is a little concerned.
he used vinegar in the past, but it's his first go using muriatic. is this a problematic acid?

he's using ~100ml varsol, and is running into some difficulty getting it to crash out (probably because it was only attempted after one pull)

here's the rundown:

150g mhrb (powdered) to 1.75L pH 3.1 diluted hcl (in hot water bath for 1.5 h)
basified to pH 10.1. extracted with warm varsol

he's working on his second acidic pull.

that might be the issue.
this wombat forgot how tedious a/b is.

or it might be an issue of varsol having a higher b.p. (>150C), indicating the presence of aromatics; dmt is more soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons than straight-chained aliphatics, so it won't crash out easily. looks like he'll need to slowly evap some to find out

*edit* yeah, the varsol has aromatics. a quick black light test shows the solution glows blue. short-chained aliphatics (vm&p) won't glow
under long-wave uv.
