I agree, talking to people who have no experience with these things is always a bit tricky. On one hand it's hard to describe why the experiences changed you so much without describing its effects, but once you do you are in the trap of "oh this person is utterly insane...". If people ask me, I tend to say it's indescribable, and in my personal opinion it is a vast and horrible crime that it is illegal. What more can be said? It's for everyone to figure out for themselves... to experience for themselves.
