Trilemma
Rising Star
I'm from California, about to finish my first year of university, and have recently (within the past several months) been introduced to the fascinating world of drugs and the associated communities
I was raised by pretty liberal and open-minded parents and have always thought of myself as open-minded, but I never really questioned society's condemnation of drugs, figuring that drugs were just for partiers, addicts, or those lovable but crazy hippies. Eighteen years in a region practically synonymous with marijuana, and I'd never even wanted to try getting high! Just not my thing, I thought. Fortunately, I've become part of a wonderful group of friends here at school - almost like an extended family - and these people have opened my eyes to the fact that drugs can absolutely be used in a safe and positive manner. Short of having been born into a culture that uses entheogens as part of sacred rituals, I can't imagine having been introduced to drugs in a safer way; having friends who understand and have stressed to me the importance of responsible practices has greatly informed my approach to drugs, and this has been reinforced by everything I've read online and in books. I think that psychedelic substances should be approached with respect and caution, and I credit this (as well as my low number of trips) with the fact that I've never had a bad trip, other than twice when I got absolutely beyond high and tripped on weed unexpectedly.
I have tried the following psychedelic substances: weed, acid, 2C-B, and salvia. I have yet to try DMT, but I've helped a friend with extractions and have watched people use DMT multiple times. I'm currently finishing an extraction my friend started (and running into a bit of trouble ), and I'm planning on trying some once this batch is finished. I feel like there's an infinite realm of experience and learning that drugs can grant access to, and I'm excited to explore this realm more
As my views change and evolve, I've come to realize that the ability to deliberately alter one's consciousness is a wonderful thing, and by outlawing so many drugs, the government has limited individuals' ability to take responsibility for their own actions and lives. If people really want to do drugs, they will find and do drugs; by waging a war on drugs, the government and anti-drug interest groups have limited the public's access to information, doing far more harm than spreading accurate information and preaching responsibility would.
Anyway, that's my background and two cents on drugs! I'm glad that websites like this one exist and that I have the opportunity to become part of these communities.
