Samadhi-Sukha-Upekkha
Rising Star
Hi everyone, it's nice to be here. My friend, who sometimes does illegal things (I think -- maybe he's just kidding around, or telling fish stories), wants to be a part of this community. However, he's a bit paranoid about some form of surveillance noticing suspicious activity on his computer. So, he asked me to join here and relay his thoughts and experiences.
Things like DMT trips are, to my non-experienced understanding, somewhat difficult to put into language. To avoid adding another layer of translation to an already ineffable experience, the only changes I'll be making to his stories will be to say "my friend" or perhaps a nickname instead of "I," or "he and his other friends" instead of "we," along with the associated grammatical adjustments. Outside of that, you'll be receiving the direct content of his brain dumps without any of my personal thoughts, unless I specify that I'm adding my own input. If there's an occasional slip and I write something in the first person that seems to be describing his potentially illegal activities, then please forgive that accident -- I don't do illegal things, and certainly wouldn't admit to them on a public forum!

My friend is excited to be a part of such a vibrant community. He's already benefited from all of the knowledge collected on this forum and the wiki. Case in point, he successfully used the lazyman STB tek with some modifications suggested by various threads on the forum, along with some of his own modifications. He's a neuroscience student who's taken some chemistry courses, and likes to make modifications to the experimental procedures in organic chemistry lab. Likewise, he never quite follows the exact instructions for a tek. However, his yield was surprisingly good -- it seems that the tek works great, and his plant material was of unexpectedly great quality! Prepowdered MHRB yielded approximately 1.5-2% alkaloid, despite being cheap MRHB and despite his inexperience with alkaloid extraction.
He's especially grateful to have encountered the changa/enhanced leaf thread, and has his own calea plant along with some purchased blue lotus flowers. He hopes to make electric sheep once the calea plant gets big enough to harvest from, and he'll let you know how it goes! As of yet, making changa with blue lotus alone hasn't seemed to alter his experience significantly compared to smoking the crystals on a damiana sandwich. But only time will tell how the proper electric sheep recipe will work!
As for the name "Samadhi-Sukha-Upekkha," it's in the Pali language of Theravada Buddhism. He's not really Buddhist, at least not in the religious sense. He's agnostic, or secular humanist, or ignostic, or whatever term he's using these days to describe his thoughts. But he believes in a lot of Buddhist philosophy and in the value of its meditation practices. In fact, he even believes in enlightenment -- though not particularly in the "end of infinite samsaric lifetimes" aspect of it, because that would require him having a reason to believe in multiple lifetimes.
He finds DMT valuable because it has, so far, reliably taught the skillfulness of accepting whatever sensory information one is receiving without being particularly moved by it. There is a rather old saying from the Pali texts that says, "The mind that naturally inclines to letting go easily achieves samadhi." Samadhi, here, refers to the meditation practice of jhana. Jhana requires strong concentration, which sucks because my friend has ADHD which makes intense meditation pretty difficult. But the DMT trip leaves him in a state of contentment with whatever sensations exist, whether pleasant, unpleasant, or neutral. In this state, the mind easily lets go of thoughts and distractions and can be gently coaxed to rest upon the meditation object, which is often the breath.
What sucks is that this disinterest in earthly and mundane affairs lasts for pretty much the rest of the night after a DMT trip, but the mind's inclination to let go only lasts for a few hours max! He hopes that through using DMT periodically and remaining familiar with the comedown and post-trip state of Sukha (ease or pleasant restfulness) and Upekkha (equanimity, or being serene with whatever reality exists), he can learn to create that mind state on its own without requiring the use of an illegal compound.
But hey, if hyperspace itself ever decides to teach him something he hadn't intended to learn, he hopes he'll be ready to learn it! Because the reports here seem to indicate that sooner or later, DMT will want to teach things that he didn't ask to be taught. Here's to hoping that he'll handle such a situation as skillfully as possible!
Thanks one last time for having all of this knowledge and experience out in the open. It'll be great getting to know people here!
