Hello all!

I am really glad to start posting here. I've been watching the nexus for years, and it has provided me so much. It has that underground feel that is backed up with some genuine people that are really committed. I've dabbled in other related forums, and it always ends up as a childish slanging match. So, thanks for being real, and I hope you will admit me into your ranks. My heart is open and my mind is ready!

To give you a little background, I consider myself as an amateur researcher of contemporary shamanism. I don't subscribe to either the idea that all contemporary shamanism is a sham. Far from it...like many here, I think that the medicines of one culture can be applied to oneself or ones own culture in any way one pleases. We should all be free to make our own mistakes and develop own own traditions and practices that work for us. After all, if we are to become the best that we can be, and make the best culture that we can make, the time to start is now. Restricting oneself to a single set of practices that works for one culture is an excellent idea for some, but for others it makes involvement in shamanism something that is simply too alien for them. I would like to see more people carving out new rituals, new practices, new ideas. The best will spread, evolve, and hopefully help us modern peoples get closer to what it is that they are searching for.

I am here to find inner peace, and to help those around me find their own inner peace. And I've love your help to find mine, and I'd love to help you find yours.

Thanks guys!! 😁 😁 😁

..welcome bobinda:)..i like your name!..reminds me of bobinzana..

there are many in here, including some who may sound entirely scientific most of the time, who have deep
'Animist' beliefs and practices, and have studied with 'Shamanic' or non-western cultures, who to the western mind often make no rational sense..:)..

..browse the ayahuasca and methods for exploring consciousness sub forums..and..absolutely, please share some of your perspectives with us..you're most welcome!

my favourite nexus quote of the week:
Everything Dreams!
[jamie]

do you have much experience with healing and ritual/traditional use of entheogens, or modern 'neo-shamanic' perspectives..?
see you about, hope you enjoy your time here..

Hello bobinda,

Welcome to the Nexus. I really enjoyed reading your introductory essay - in a way it seemed a bit different from the norm and yet I felt I got a starting sense of who you might be. :D

Your thoughts on being open about applying one culture's practices and medicines to someone from another culture - finding what works for you individually - is fascinating to me.

Clearly it reflects the connectivity and education we enjoy in modernity. . . And yet, many have stated in many different ways, that this tactic can be a bit toxic to many folks who feel lost . . . .

Many of us feel that with all the advantages and joys that have come with modernity something terrible has been lost. That place that we always knew as ours - knowing our place among the plants, animals, our people, our ancestors, etc.. . . The mental security of that is lost by this modernity (and frankly, freedom) it seems and thus we get diseases of modernity (in my opinion) such as the personality disorders like depression and anxiety.

Anyway, just some rants from a Nexian. We do that a lot, heh.

So, have you had a chance to try DMT yet? If so, smoked or oral and what did you think? If a freebase smoked dose, have you extracted your own?

I again want to welcome you to this place. I am very glad you decided to join. I don't promise that any inner peace can be found here (perhaps) but there is enough information and sense of community to keep any psychonaut happily fed for many years,

pandora...it is interesting how the inherent connectivity we experience in modern times is also one of the core effects of the ancient sacraments. both can also make you feel very alone.

thanks for both your replies, you are both very sweet for taking the time to read my intro! DMT is both a central part of my life that I cannot live without AND the scary thing that I like to try and avoid. I think the difference between my attitudes is what keeps me coming back :)

And inner peace... on an internet forum? What was I saying?? :p 😁
I'll do my best 😁

And smoked or oral... I prefer oral, aya style, for times when I need a real shake/wake up...for when my brain and my ideas have become too sedated. It is an incredible cure for the negative thought loops that infect us all at one time or another.

I know someone who has extracted their own... IMO there isn't a more satisfying thing to do. It is like baking your own bread. Smoked dmt is best for Staying Psychedelic. If I ever feel like am beginning to lose my way, or get too heavily into my work (which is not psychedelic at all), a darkened room and half an hour brings me back on track :)
