Hello

Migrated topic.

Researcher

Frank N. Stein
Hello to all members of DMT Nexus. I'm new here, obviously. So I thought I would make my first post an introduction and tell you a little bit about myself.

SWIM has extracted DMT from MHRB a few times before but has never had the full effect when smoking it, which is the only way SWIM has attempted. He is interested in DMT, and entheogens in general, because of the other wordly nature of the experiences he has heard from others and has experienced for himself.

SWIM has only once before tried psyilocybin, quite recently in fact, and enjoyed it, found it quite interesting, had some profound concepts clear themselves up for him, but he did not enjoy the side effects such as anxiety on the far end of the trip and the general feeling of uncomfortable-ness and restlessness. So, although the main features of the psilocybin trip were positive, he would probably not do it again.

SWIM has also tried Salvia divinorum once before, and, similar to psilocybin, enjoyed the main part of the experience but not the side effects. He found that the Salvia made him feel very angry after the psychedelic effect had worn off, and he got a general negative vibe from the experience, although the main trip was quite fun and very strange to say the least. The best way he can describe it is to say that that his arms and legs felt like long wooden rulers, ha, weird, I know.

SWIM used to be a daily cannabis smoker but he quit that about a month or so ago with no intentions to go back to that habit, other than once in a long while, which has been surprisingly easy for him. SWIM seems to be able to essentially switch off desire once he has decided to quit something, it worked the same way for him quitting cigarettes a few years ago. But SWIM sympathizes with others trying to quit because the first few days can be quite uncomfortable and the week or three after have minimal withdrawl symptoms such as mild headaches. But all that has passed and all is good. That was the last of his bad habits, and he desires to live to 105, so he needs to stay healthy, mentally and physically.

I am an avid reader, of everything. I especially enjoy history and philosophy and religious studies. I long ago realized, thanks to my never ending study of everything, that just about all we (westerners) learn from official "education" sources is simply not true or somehow skewed to produce a certain perception of reality. This perception that is given to us is designed to reinforce the system we live in, which is, of course, a complete totalitarian system, a scientific dictatorship of Huxlien proportions, that produces fat, happy slaves who don't know they are slaves. We are manipulated at every level.

So I search for reality everywhere I can.

DMT seems to be, perhaps, able to reveal another level of reality, an inner, spiritual reality. Francis Bacon once said, "A little philosophy inclineth man's mind to atheism; but depth in philosophy bringeth men's minds about to religion." Well, I've gone from naive, "given" beliefs of a child, to reason induced atheism and back around to "religion", completing a trinity of thought processes. But not religion in the usually accepted definition. More spirituality without dogma. I've been led to this point by study, of science and philosophy, and by experience, with meditation and with other means.

I've come to this board for information and discussion, it seems to be made of intelligent people, which is certainly hard to find anywhere, especially on the internet. I've also come try to alleviate some fear and anxiety about the full experience of DMT, why I feel that I'm not sure. So here I am, I've left out a lot about myself, yet I've made this introduction too long as it is, so I'll leave it here.

Hey there, welcome to the nexus.

Do read through the experiences, their is alot of info there about fear and anxiety regarding the DMT realm and how to try and get over it.

Hope you enjoy your stay.

Hi Researcher! As you mention, the community here is of the highest caliber. As you mention the restlessness and discomfort of the long-form psychedelic experience, I suggest you read Leary, Alpert, Metzner's book. It uses descriptions from the Tibetan Book of the Dead to show these, and many other symptoms, relate directly to ego-loss, and they actually disappear (or become irrelevant) once one learns to let go. EJ Gold also does a wonderful job (using a language clearer to the occidental audience) in his American Book of the Dead.

Awesome to meet you, be cool, be well.

Thank you ragabr, I will look into those books. In my excitement I forgot to add that I would like to use the above introduction as an application for full membership. Although SWIM does not have a lot of experience with DMT I believe SWIM can be beneficial to the board in other ways.
