help breaking through

It's been about 9 times now with the spice. 8 of them in the last month and from a very close source :) ...which feels much better. But I still haven't fully broken through. I've gotten really close, body melting away to the point of being almost a dot, but I don't think I've quite come to what folks have been describing. And really, that has been truly beautiful and amazing and didactic (and scary once  )

But the more I do it, the less I (or my subconscious?) try to break through, the more of an inhibition in my mind there seems to be. I think I'm really quite terrified of it. Any advice on relaxing or whatever it is that may help?

background: I've been quite a prolific psychedelic user since 16, cut back a lot in my early 20s, and the last few years have seen me only engaging once every couple months - so it's not an entirely foreign feeling to deal with these feelings but there's that intimidation factor of revisiting those spaces as well.

there's a very useful thread which has some practical tips for breaking through - well worth checking if you haven't already. It may just be your method of smoking or dosage.

Regarding concerns about breaking through: lots of people have 'pre-flight anxiety'. It's a pretty normal reaction to the prospect of having your mind flung into another dimension.

There's some general things you can do that may help: deep, slow breathing right before you go in usually helps most. Also tidying up (I know that sounds odd, but it can help you feel like you're putting your mind in order ... don't know why it works, but it does for me!) or go for a walk to relax and defocus your mind; have a nice stretch ...

thanks! and yeah, i do tend to have a lot of anxiety so maybe it's an issue of acknowledging that, breathing deeply, and moving forward.
