Help: Dmt Extraction

Swim was wondering a few questions on some stuff he has read over the last few weeks. . .

100 gram Psychotria viridis extraction

1. Cover the leafs in 1 liter of water, add 1000 mg of citric acid, and boil for 15 minutes. Pour off the water and save it.
2. Cover the leafs in 1 liter of water and boil for 15 minutes. Pour off the water and save it.
3. Cover the leafs in 1 liter of water and boil for 15 minutes. Pour off the water and save it.
4. Filter the combined water and boil it down to about 300 ml.
5. Defat 5 times with 100 ml of naphtha (or 3 times with xylene followed by 2 times with naphtha) in a separatory funnel. If the last defat is not clear, defat again until it is clear.
6. Adjust the pH to 9.5 with sodium carbonate (or sodium hydroxide, or ammonia).
7. Extract 3 times with 100 ml of naphtha in a separatory funnel.
8. Evaporate the naphtha completely at room temperature to give DMT.

1: Is that boil for 15-20min or simmer ?

2: Whole leaf added or cut up ?

3: do i add acidic water for all 3 cooks or just the first ?

4: i cant seem to find how much acid & lye needed for certain ph levels. I think its 5ml hydrochloric acid to 1L distilled water ?

How much hydrochloric acid do i need for 3L water to get a Ph of 3-4.
How much Sodium Hydroxide would be needed to get Ph 10 using a Liter of water.

Good to see another fellow Aussie. Better yet, and Aussie doing an extraction on something other then MHRB. I wish I could answer your questions! Perhaps it is simmer, but PSY-V leaves are different to MHRB and Obtusifolia.

I hope another can answer this question!

SWIM never worked with those leaves but simmering would be better and for about an hour per extraction.

Also cut the leaves. Also use acid in each water solution.

As far as pH goes it depends what concentration acid or lye solution one is using and what pH one wants. But if you know those concentrations you can do some math and calculate the pH. Instructions would be in any general chemistry text book. They even have online calculators for such calculations.

When working with leaves, you are going to need to DEFAT DEFAT DEFAT (sounds like you got this though)!

THEN you can basify and extract with naphtha (this time KEEPING the naphtha or WMSpirits).
