Help please- Mason Jar Broke using Cyb's Tek

Hey everyone.

So SWIM was using Cyb's tek and after initially bringing the heat bath to a boil (during step 3: Acidifying) the 1qt mason jar was placed in the water. (Should have brought the water to a boil with the mason jar already in there so the temp of the jar rose gradually) Then all of a sudden the bottom of the jar broke off and 100g of mhrb came spilling out into the tap water heat bath. Is there any way to work around this and still go through with this extraction?

Hi Cyan, its not needen to bring to boil, i think you should be able to have Your fingers in there without getting harmed.

Filter your water bath, saving the liquid. Maybe save the solid for re-extraction in case your yield looks bad.

Boil down the liquid to the appropriate volume and continue with basifying, salt etc.

Should be fine, happened to my uncle's imaginary meerkat once.

If your water bath has hard water in, it may be worth adding a dash more acid, but only if the pH is significantly >7.

No where in Cyb's tek does it mention bringing the water bath to a boil.

You better be glad there wasn't naptha in there and it wasn't an open FLAME that was BOILING your water.. Otherwise, you may have been in the hospital with potential injuries.

Not to sound aggressive, and I apologize if I do, just passionate!

Please take a good read when following teks. You are working with relatively dangerous materials.

However, I did go back to Cyb's Hybrid STB/AB tek and it does say to boil the tea with the bark. But, it does not mention boiling the bath. Like the guy above me, the WARM water bath should be just luke warm and comfortable to put your finger in.​

Alright, hope it works. So to clarify you think the mhrb should be filtered out through a coffee filter, and saved, then the water boiled down to the volume it was suppose to be at then continue as normal?

Haha it's all good DeDao, thanks for the advice. Here's what Cyb's first tek says verbatim, "3. Put some tap water in a pan and bring to the boil, then turn OFF the heat."

Instead of "the boil" it should say "a boil", but that's exactly what the tek says.
