Hemp wick

My torch lighter recently declared independence so I've been smoking spice with hemp wick and it works very well. The wick has a more controllable flame than a bic and is almost silent, unlike torch lighters. I don't know if it would work as well as torch+gvg for vaping the whole dose at once but I don't try to do that anyway so it's not an issue for me.

I think smoking with wick in general is much more pleasant than using a lighter, either traditional bic or a torch. It was especially nice for dmt because I could light the wick and let it burn for however long I want before smoking without the distraction of pressing lighter buttons. I like to light the wick with a candle because it meant no lighters at all near me and also is a nice thing to look at. (I'm not a fan of looking at mass produced plastic crap like lighters when I'm about to smoke dmt.)

In my pipe I have to hold the wick about 1 inch above for it to begin vaporizing. I keep a small dish of water nearby for putting out the flame safely.
 
I would have love to use it but the risk of breaken through while not having light off the hemp wick stop me from trying using it.
Unless I'd have a sitter present, I rather not take the risk of burning my house while flying.

How can you be sure you will light if off before you're to the other side ?
 
I have a little dish of water that I put within easy reach and I hold my hand with the wick above the dish between hits. Right after I take the last hit I dip the flame into the water, close my eyes, and hold the vapor in my lungs. I practiced with 5mg doses at first to be sure I could easily reach the dish in time and haven't had any problems at all. If you just blow the wick out there are the embers to worry about but water takes less than a second to fully put it out.

are you using the wick with the vapor genie elru? I find the flame to usually be very small on the wick, so i haven't tried it with the VG yet (btw, thanks for turning me on to it in the chat) its working great for smoking other herbs in a pipe, so i plan on giving it a shot in the VG next time around
 
Yeah, I can't remember where I put it.

I'm using it in a gvg with the top off so it's just like a regular pipe. Wick doesn't get hot enough to work well with the top on.

Shame it doesn't get hot enough. rather smoke it in a regular good old wooden pipe.
 
I don't think I'm forfeiting any benefits. I can't find my torch lighter, don't have money to buy a new one, and this works just about as well for how I smoke in multiple inhalations. It's also easier for me to hold the wick in the right spot for the last hits than to try to operate a lighter with fumble-y dmt fingers.

If you hold the wick at a steep angle in the gvg (with cap on) it will vaporize pot. I haven't tried it with dmt because it burns wick faster to do the angle thing than to just take the cap off and I haven't had problems with burning using this method anyway. Do wooden pipes have caps on them? Or you mean classic vg?
