My torch lighter recently declared independence so I've been smoking spice with hemp wick and it works very well. The wick has a more controllable flame than a bic and is almost silent, unlike torch lighters. I don't know if it would work as well as torch+gvg for vaping the whole dose at once but I don't try to do that anyway so it's not an issue for me.

I think smoking with wick in general is much more pleasant than using a lighter, either traditional bic or a torch. It was especially nice for dmt because I could light the wick and let it burn for however long I want before smoking without the distraction of pressing lighter buttons. I like to light the wick with a candle because it meant no lighters at all near me and also is a nice thing to look at. (I'm not a fan of looking at mass produced plastic crap like lighters when I'm about to smoke dmt.)

In my pipe I have to hold the wick about 1 inch above for it to begin vaporizing. I keep a small dish of water nearby for putting out the flame safely.
