Heptane(Bestine) for Cactus Powder Extraction and Recrystalization

Has anyone ever tried using Heptane(Bestine) instead of Xylene(Hate Smell!!) to do a Mesc HCL extraction on Cactus Powder using Ron69's method??

I see people using Xylene tend to get pure white Mesc HCL crystals(If they titrate correctly to PH of 6.8-7.0) using Xylene instead of D-Limo for Ron's extraction Tek but I hate the smell and residual tatse of Xylene and with D-Limo my crystals are always tannish even with multiple cleanings with Dry Acetone and Dry IPA...

Also anyone ever try Recrystalizing Mesc HCL with Heptane instead of Acetone??

Wont work, mescaline wont be soluble in it..

Did you try re-A/Bing your mescaline instead of just using acetone/IPA to clean it up?

If you don't want to do another a/b, i got great results from doing a boiling ipa re-x on some hcl's i got from limo. They went from tannish (thought they were clean after several acetone washings/water recrystallizations) hcl's to near scent free whitish crystals.

Just get some DRY ipa, get it almost boiling in a hot water bath, and dissolve as much mescaline hcl as you can in it. Let it cool, then pop it in the freezer and you should get some very nice clean crystals. Heat it up again, evap down and freeze again, until you have a small volume of ipa left, then just evap that and wash it with dry acetone to get the last bit of mescaline, albeit a little less clean than the rest of your precipitates.
