alright, here's the question you said you'd answer at the growery:

thanks a lot

this site is the coolest one though, it has low traffic but real helpful members with awesome responses and no flaming

stick around and you'll see it's a real scientific community

thanks for that list, i'll make sure to look up each one of those on wikipedia.org

yes, some of these just say rare and almost exctinct, but i'll take what i find and make a post tonight in the plant forum about these cacti, good knowledge!

I've read some of Imachavel's posts at "The Shroomery" and the responses to them. I can well understand why he's banned but Coatl, how the F do you get banned from "The Nook"?

teotzecoatl, half of those cactus you posted are very rare and have no known value, how did you come up with the figure that each one is medicinal?

ALL of those cacti are reputed/suspected to be psychoactive or medinical. I've complied that list over the course of my studies.

I got you

wikipedia isn't giving me much on that

exept the lophophora species, the only 2 i've found that have psychoactive principles is the mistaken peyote or however you call it and one of those long cyndrical ones that contains something similar to mescaline, only in amounts so small that it cannot be felt so as there must be other analogues present in the cactus

many if not all of those cactus are very popular growing or collected, such as those large big armed cactus and the small slow growing 'rock cactus'

i'd love to learn more about this

thanks for the list

you research a lot of stuff, huh?

yes, i'd be interested in that

besides trichocereous species, the false peyote and Coryphantha macromeris also known as danana which contains macromeris are the only 2 psychoactive cactus i've seen

although i've heard there's a cactus which contains an mda or mdma like molecule

but mainly i'm looking for any cactus with medicinal, psychoactive, or poisonous properties since i have no idea of the use or history of cactus

actually, until i looked at that list I didn't realize there was a medicinal cactus that supresses appetite used by some people to go days without eating, nor did i know cactus grew in africa, I thought cactus only grew in the americas

let me know and where do I find Trout's notes? look it up type deal? or buy the book type deal?

I found some Trout's notes stuff on the internet, but it seems to be in regard to a wide range of information

is there anything specifically showing medicinal or psychoactive cactus?

If you're interested in psychoactive cacti, you should pick up Trout's Notes on the topic. He's compiled a great deal of info on these things over the years.

Do you know how hard it is to find Trout's Notes Part A????? Get Mr.Smith's book, S.& M.C.

Please give me botanical names! Describe them to me! I must know which ones your talkin' about if you have bioassyed them!!!

the small slow growing 'rock cactus'

That's ariocarpus, but I could see people callin' turbinicarpus, strombocactus and others "rock cactus" or "living rocks" as well.

the false peyote and Coryphantha macromeris also known as danana which contains macromeris are the only 2 psychoactive cactus i've seen

I think the "false peyote" is Astrophytum asterias, there's many, many "peyotes", not just a few.

although i've heard there's a cactus which contains an mda or mdma like molecule

yup,yup

but mainly i'm looking for any cactus with medicinal, psychoactive, or poisonous properties since i have no idea of the use or history of cactus

that's the list, man.

Cacti, DO only grow in the americas, although some people argue this. I believe cacti in the Americas, succulents eslewhere. I believe this is fairly widely accepted. Read "A cactus oddessy", it explains it very well.

let me know and where do I find Trout's notes? look it up type deal? or buy the book type deal?

$150 bucks for a hard back full color fresh print of the book, The good Mr.Trout is trying to raise the money, would you like one???

I found some Trout's notes stuff on the internet, but it seems to be in regard to a wide range of information

Link me, please.

Yes, there is. I'll post about it in another thread.

ugghhhh..... you want the links?

i'll get them for you, but dude there's like 1000, why don't you just look up Trout's notes on google?

.... give me a minute

also, wikipedia doesn't give much information on all that cacti, can you show me where i can find more information about it?

here are some of those links you wanted:

the last link is to a set of downloads, maybe that's what your interested in, they're free, so maybe that's something I'D be interested in as well

here's a book you can buy for $12, I don't know if it's as good as the one you're telling me about:

hey thanks, that's nice

is trout's some simple tryptamines a nice book? does he explain the biochemistry of the plant and the tryptamine or just the tryptamines in general?
