I have been replicating several methods on several papers and most of them are bullshit, especially on the low cost purification method. Like for example:
1. Fractioning the extract with chloroform have a really low yield. Directly extracting with chloroform doesn't help either
2. Most papers say that mitragynine is acid labile but you know what, based on the paper it is refer, mitragynine is only unstable on really acidic (pH 2 or less) AND basic solution (8 or more). The study is conducted on 60 and 80 C and on that temperature and pH 8-10, the mit have declining trend on stability. The most stable pH is between 4-8.
So, don't blindly trust scientific papers. Take it with a whole lots of salt.
My problem right now is making the extract with more than 20% mit. Let me know if anyone have experience with it. Cheers!
