Hi,

I stumbled onto this place whilst looking for lophophora soil/sand ratios, as I'm currently repotting my oldest loph because it's no longer sitting level in the pot, so presumably the tap root must have reached the bottom of the pot. So thanks to 1664 for writing up that thread, it's one of the best guides specific to lophs I've seen on the internet.

I've been exploring the world of psychedelics for around six or seven years ago now. Initially through sampling the local headshop's wares (HBWR, salvia, fly agaric etc). Then around three years ago, I discovered a forum attached to a UK headshop (everyonedoesit) and they had a huge topic all about cacti containing mescaline, and the various methods of preparation. So after a bit of planning I gathered a two friends who were interested and made a tea out of just over 60g of dried san pedro skins. That night still goes down as one of our best ever trips, partly because we had no idea what to expect. We settled in to watch a film during the come up because we knew it was ~3 hours to come up. Towards the end of the film, fleeting flickers of colour were appearing in our peripheral vision so we decided to wrap up warm (this was February) and head out for a walk. I'm quite lucky in that I live out in the sticks with access to plenty of countryside and a nearby forest. We spent about six hours walking/hiking/exploring that night mainly in the forest with plenty of joints and a flask of tea (regular not cacti based :p). Had many more mescaline trips since then, and it's still my favourite psychedelic. I've done quite a bit of reading around DMT, it's something that interests me a lot but at present, I don't feel the time is right. I don't think it's one of those experiences you should rush into unless you're 100% comfortable going ahead with. I'll only do it when it feels right.

A little about myself; I'm 22, finished a degree in biology last year, working out where/what/why I want to be doing/going in life. I'd really like to get out of the UK before I get tied down. I play guitar, snowboard when money permits... enjoy pottering around in the garden, got quite a big collection of carnivorous plants and grow mushrooms when my stash is getting low (only cubensis so far)
I post a lot on another forum, but they've recently closed down their drugs section. So in some ways I'm a bit of a nomad at the moment, this place looks like somewhere I might want to set up camp for a while. I lurk on a few of the bigger forums but don't really like the tone/attitude of most of the discussion. Especially SWIMMING. ;)

I am also a big fan of kratom, I can't quite work out if that falls into the list of substances not to be discussed here..?

anyway hopefully I can gain and contribute some knowledge to this forum, looks like it may be a good place to hang my hat.

Cheers.

hmmm lets see.. a degree in biology, into guitar, plants, psychedelics.. yea you found the right place :p

welcome to the forums bro :d

I'm 99% certain you can discuss kratom here.

I just recently saw it at my headshop for the first time so i may eventually give it a whirl myself.

Very nice intro!

I like your attitude, like when you say you dont want to rush having your first DMT experience. Indeed all psychedelics, and particularly DMT, is something one should go into it with respect and prudence. Rushing and taking it lightly is a recipe for disaster. If you do decide to go for it, you know you have found the right community :) The Health and Safety section has some good tips and considerations that you might find of interest.

Also in general you should check the WIKI, because there is plenty of good info there about extraction and preparations, as well as other things such as alkaloid properties, chemical information, etc.

Now back to your intro. Tripping in nature is indeed amazing, isnt it? And the mescaline shine is very special too, I understand why you like it so much. Its one of the substances I have tried a few times but not enough, I definitely want to explore it more.

You say you play guitar, for long already? What kind of things do you like to play (or listen to?) ?

As for kratom, yeah I dont think its a problem being discussed here. I guess discussion would fit in the Other Psychoactives subforum (which you cant yet post in, but just keep posting a bit more and you'll get promoted in no time I promiss you) We dont have many taboos or issues, its all about good sense. You can check our attitude page for our guideliness of how the forum works. So if you were looking for a community with a nice attitude, I think you found the right place (I may be biased for saying so but I really have looked around on a lot of forums and have not yet found a place where the overal majority of people are so respectful and down-to-earth but open minded at the same time)

All in all, what I want to say is: Welcome ! :)

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I've been playing guitar for about a year now although I've had a guitar for about eight years, it was only recently I decided to put my mind to it properly. I play mostly classic rock/metal with a bit of blues every now and again.

Getting outside and into nature is something I have to do every trip. I get quite agitated/unsettled sitting around in the house actually. I live a little too far from any coast lines, but I really want to take a trip in a beach setting, preferably peaking as the sunsets into the sea :D

UniverseCannon, I'd say stay away from the kratom in your local headshop. It's usually drastically over priced and sub-par quality kratom aimed at the 'legal high' market. In some ways I think this is good, because if headshops stocked good quality kratom products I think it'd become a lot more popular and popularity leads to attention from the media and government. We all know what that would lead to. There a many good kratom vendors I could link you to if you ever wanted to try it out.

I've been trying to work out what the main nationality of the user base is here, is it predominantly American?

Hey stux, welcome to the Nexus, it is nice to greet a fellow UK head into this amazing community. You have definitely chosen the right place to be. You are no longer a nomad, you are a Nexian :D

Quite rightly; endlessness pointed you in the direction of the health and safety section, which you should find interesting. One thing's for sure, if bad or dangerous advice is given on this forum, the mods and other members will quickly put it right, though this is not a common occurance.

So stux my friend :D hang your hat, take off your coat, put your feet up and relax. And once more, welcome to the Nexus :D

Peace,

Macre.
