I weigh my dose in the little dish provided with my scale. Then, with the aid of a small spoon pushing it along, I slowly pour it from the lip of the dish into a very small kitchen funnel that stands in the bowl of the GVG, stopping from time to time (depending on the size of the dose) to softly shake the funnel to both prevent clogging and as a means of distributing  the spice evenly over the copper mesh while directing it away from the sides of the glass. I usually heat the copper mesh like Gibran (used to?:shock: ), but I am not sure it is all that effective given the method above - not much of it seems to actually melt. My guess is that by the time the funnel is in place and the spice distributed, the mesh has sufficiently cooled to not melt it.
