How many screens in GVG?? no scrubbers or pads

Hey nexus

I have pack after pack of pipe screens lying around, just wondering if anybody has had any luck using screens, and screens only in the GVG, I hope to push them in to form a concave shape, to prevent as much DMT from migrating to the colder glass as possible, I understand that I will have to use 10 or more screens, that's no problem.

If that doesn't work to well I would rather buy some mullein or similar to use as a bed, rather than use a pot scrubber or something.

Why don't you try copper or steal mesh ? Its the best way to vape spice. Check my pics

I live in canada and have not been able to find the same products many people in europe or the states have been able to find.
if anyone can confirm a source i will check it out.

but in the mean time, im wondering if many screens in a concave shape will work, my GVG should arrive sometime this week :) and i want to be able to try it the moment i feel appropriate :p

*EDIT* thanks endlessness that was a little more of what I was looking for, I believe I will try the screens, just to say I did, but I will also get my hands on some more quality herbs, thanks.

Also thanks smokerx, I already understood how the GVG and the scrubbers work, it just doesnt seem like a spiritual or traditional way of doing it.
 
Spiritual/traditional way of smoking dmt? What do you mean? There isnt such a thing, we're creating our tradition here.

Yeah do get herbs, anything is fine really but better get something you like the taste of when vaporized. Experiment and see.. You dont need much to catch melting dmt, and I guess the less extra vapor to inhale the better.
 
If no herbs or scrubber are available you could use a layer of ash.

I've tried this before and worked fine, 5 screens, a layer of ash and the dmt ontop. Happy days.

The spiritual aspect of DMT consumption lies within you, not the equipment.

If conforming to the traditions of other cultures is important to you, then you shouldn’t really be smoking DMT at all.

The traditional methods of ingestion include, among others, drinking ayahuasca and insufflating a variety of DMT-containing snuffs. Traditionally, ayahuasca is prepared over an open fire in the Amazon. So unless you’re preparing ayahuasca over an open fire in the Amazon (and under the guidance of a shaman, I suppose) you’re not conforming to tradition.

edit: Not to pick on you, but I find it amusing that you consider using a GVG to be acceptable with respect to spirituality and tradition, considering that the GVG’s operation depends on a very high-tech silicon carbide foam heat diffuser. Yet you consider using copper – probably the first metal used by mankind – to be anti-spiritual and anti-tradition.
 
everyone presents a good point, and I am open to all your suggestions, I just feel pipe screen were meant to be in a pipe, and scrubbers as kind if a crack-head approach. but thank you endlessness, what you said about us creating our own tradition made me rethink alot about method of administration.

and maybe we can bring a new outlook the the scrubbers, as not so much of a "crackhead" idea.

But I have also done a lot of reading about mullein, sounds like a great herb for the body, any comments on taste?

If I can find a source for scrubbers or a metallic mesh that is not a mystery metal, i will for sure give it a try, I just havent found any localy.
 
Mullein is fine, doesnt taste of much. Its very fluffy so soaks up the molten DMT well.

As for the scrubbers, look in any grocery store, in the kitchen cleaning isle:) Be sure to steer well clear of the ones that have soap and other stuff in them already.
 
thanks gammagore, i'll check it out, and of course never touch anything with chemicals in it :p

Anything I use will get a pass over by my acetalyne torch, so nothing bad (i hope) will be left behind :p

gibran, I see your point, but I see the GVG as a pipe, no more, just a very convenient, efficient, sexy looking pipe.

mostly becuase of this thread ive adopted the same thoughts as the rest of you, but i am also interested in mullein because of my asthmatic past.

As for the scrubbers try to get Chore boy copper ones, until recently I used stainless steel scrubbers and it's definitely not as good. It's much
easier to shape copper than stainless steel and the resultant disc will allow a much better vaporization of DMT.
Seriously I felt weird ordering scrubbers from ebay US (I'm european) but it's worth it :)
 
Perfect thanks, do I allow the scrubbers to touch the glass? or will that cause the dmt to migrate, i feel you would have to have a very steady hand while vaping to stop the scrubber from moving around and touching?
 
I've tested the GVG with screens and liquid pad(volcano) which was a total waste of time and spice. With herbs as a bed it will work, too.
You can find copper mesh from ebay for example(chore boy mesh). Here is a discussion I started on the subject:

PS. If you consider the screens to be a spiritual matter, you are in quite a situation. And what somebody else does with something like a mesh, doesn't affect anything. Ridiculous thinking I would say.
Perhaps you should just stick with some herbs as a bed, the spice will not melt through. Get some mullein and blast off.
