I've tested the GVG with screens and liquid pad(volcano) which was a total waste of time and spice. With herbs as a bed it will work, too.

You can find copper mesh from ebay for example(chore boy mesh). Here is a discussion I started on the subject:

PS. If you consider the screens to be a spiritual matter, you are in quite a situation. And what somebody else does with something like a mesh, doesn't affect anything. Ridiculous thinking I would say.

Perhaps you should just stick with some herbs as a bed, the spice will not melt through. Get some mullein and blast off.
