hydrochloric acid in naphtha

Migrated topic.

Hi there, a friend of mine was doing his first STB tek, but he called my slightly in panic,
he accidentally poured about 50ml of hydrochloric acid in his container during a second pull instead of naphtha.

He asked my if the batch was ruined now but i honestly don't know. Can the acid contaminate the naphtha?
or can he continue the pull as normal since there is probably still a lot of spice in there. I cant imagine his first pull ever got all of it ;)

sorry for this nooby question but i couldn't find any answers rather quickly using google.

The acid will go to the bottom. If your naphtha pull was separated, when the hcl fell on it, it must have formed a bottom layer. That would have probably salted at least some of your alkaloids that were in the naphtha, and now they will be in the bottom layer. So re-base it and re-extract from it.

If it fell in the whole container with the basic mimosa liquid plus some naphtha, then the hcl will have reacted with the NaOH. If it was a lot of hcl and not so much NaOH, it now might have become significantly less basic, or more acidic... Just add a bit more NaOH to be sure and keep pulling. Any way you're doing fine.
