Bring back any recollections of anything?

And at the 5 min. mark they talk about how "space and time and thought are not the seperate things we've thought they are..."

And people wonder why i've named one of my strongest hybrid strains of weed "Roddenberry"...

make it so #1!

LOVE AND GRATITUDE!!

einstien told us that a long time ago though... its nothing new... and hell the buddhists have known that and taught that forEVER...

I've been a big trekkie but it faded a little. Would love to re-watch TNG.

DS9 is also awesome: A wormhole filled with timeless creatures who can induce visions thru blue, rotating orbs.

space and time and thought

That is my favorite TNG episode hands down.

Is this where The Traveler gets his handle?

It's the first and few episodes where the traveller appears, I think later in the episode he "names himself" when he describes himself and his purpose to captain picard (but in the first part of the episode he mentions his actual name is un-pronouncable by humans).

Ah, great to see that episode again.

And indeed, it's on that episode were I did one of my many very important introductions. ;)

I knew who you actually were the moment I signed onto this forum.

Couldn't miss for someone with a name like you have could it?

I remember having long philosophical talks with friends of mine with me explaining different kinds of reality, three main probabilities:
1. Objective reality: things are just the way they are because they are. Reality IS.
2. Subjective reality: "I think, therefor you are" All is created in one persons (your) mind.
3. Cumulative subjective reality. What all entities think together makes reality. Some minds may have more impact as others but it's the collective mind that makes our universe.

It's seemingly impossible to determine which of these three possibilities is the one that makes up our reality. I can remember having a solution to exclude one of them, I even can recollect telling a friend of mine that I should write it down since I was 'slightly' drunk at that time and there was a good change I would have forgotten it the next morning, unfortunetly the next morning came and there was no note and I had forgotten the solution...

Now since I'm recollecting more of these memories I can remember that at some point I was feeling down with these realities and what should and would not be real and such. It was at that point in time I suddenly realized I had to take DMT to find out if there was more to life then this, it started my whole quest for DMT.

Great thread this one, it brings me back to some purpose of meaning. :D

My current belief, of course, would have to be a combination of #1, #2, &#3!

#1- Reality is what it is, it's a set things with certain fixed properties, it's "real.," is a seperate thing existing apart from perception, can be consentually classified by observation, scientifically tested etc...

#2- There is "more to the story," reality is more complicated; the universe is larger, "deeper" than we can imagine and perceive. But our minds can perceive more reality than is ordinarily percieved (everyone here that's followed this forum knows this...) our position in reality is more "flexible" than is normally understood,... ie: travel elsewhere in your mind, ie:reality exploration not reality creation, ie: consciousness expansion, astral travel... or advanced technologies of the future (artificial ?traversible? singularities).

#3- beings, advanced beings, type 4 civilizations, GOD creates reality with thoughts. Or like in the Bible, God's spoken word.

The ultimate goal is to become like the traveler and be able to spontaniously phase in and out of different times, places, and dimensions...

We need to follow star trek. We need to get our shit together. We need to put all our effort into developing nano-technology immediately, and solve the problem of the scarcity of resources forever. And then once we can manipulate matter at the moleculear level, and have self powered - self replicating nanofactories...unlimited material wealth and biological immortality... We can develop all sorts of exotic tech, and then head to the stars.

Word!!!
And when we head to the stars it will be just to see what is out there. Pure exploration and knowledge expansion. The whole point will be to go where no man has gone before, not to find some new resources to exploit.

i totally think thought is the key to space exploration!
i think frank herbert had it right...
"he who controls the spice controls the universe!"
bending space time with thought altered with the aid of the desert spice...
it is from dune that spice gets its name!

"Pure exploration and knowledge expansion"

Once we forever alleviate the necessity for the "classic vocation" of gathering rescources, with nano-technology... Then, that'll be the purpose of existence!

Like on the episode where data discovers people in cryo suspension adrift and revives them. One guy is totally concerned about where his money is in the 24th century. Captain picard tries to explain to him that material needs no longer exist. He asks, what's the challenge then? And picard responds, to improve yourself... to enrich yourself.

It's the last episode in season 1.

People don't understand the urgent need to develop technology... If we can get advanced enough nano-tech, and manipulate matter at the molecular level, well then... that'll be that. Unlimited material wealth and biological immortality for humanity. Once we get that out of the way...

ya I love star trek, and recently addicted to stargate..
Anyone ever watch the 4400 series?? funny how the promycin glows jsut like aya would under a black light...they actually had a few differnt phy drugs in that series..some of them produced by other people..
