Went for my first Rue extraction based on this tek:
"The most common method for extracting harmala from Syrian Rue seeds is a simple boiling extraction.
The hard seeds are preferably crushed either using a coffee grinder or smashing them in a plastic bag with a hammer and then boiled in a small amount of water with a little lemon juice added to acidify the water.
After boiling for 30 minutes, the seed material is strained off and then filtered and the resulting yellowish liquid is the end product.
A second and/or third extraction is usually performed on the same seed material in order to get more of the active compounds. The second extraction is often as darkly colored as the first and the third will still have the characteristic yellowish color.
The liquid is often further boiled down to a smaller volume or evaporated off to form a powder."

Well, after i finished reducing I was left with a thick ooze reminiscent of them coffee lollies, dark brown in color and sticky to touch, obviously not the result i was looking for.

Should this be discarded or can it be used and refined. Thanks.

My main goal is to employ the end result to make changa. Caapi is unavailable to me.

This is a very crude extraction and would probably be a bit too thick and resinous to really enjoy the smoke.

If you didn't use much starting material, it might just be best to use the extract you have for oral trips.

Otherwise, you can re-dissolve what you have in some vinegar & water and do the Tao of Rue extraction tek on it.

Good luck :)

Thanks for the hasty reply. As I have found myself mostly a student of DMT, I suppose hot water and vinegar is going to be my option. The process looks very time consuming and I hope that all the wonder of "Changa" is worth it in the long run as thus far my experiences with DMT have all been in it's crystal form.

Once again, thankyou.

Edit: Could this crude product be eaten (I believe one tek said that this resin type substance could be taken orally at a dose the size as roughly an aspirin) prior to vaping freebase dmt for effect?

Correct.. The resin you have now would be best suited for oral consumption..

Extracting rue is quite an undertaking but it's worth the time and effort. You could start out with Gibran2's Caapi Tek for a not-so-pure end result but it would still be good enough for changa. Rue just has extra alkaloids in it that make it a bit rougher on the body, hence the extra work being done in the Tao tek.

Actually, if done correctly, the Caapi TEK produces very pure results when used with Rue. It yields a full spectrum alkaloid mix without any sodium chloride contamination. The result has fewer impurities than a Manske extraction.

Not if after the manske step you do a base precipitation, in that case using a manske+base precip like tao of rue or harmala extraction guide means a purer end product than just base precipitation and washing like the abovelinked tek.

How so?

If you do the easy caapi tek on rue, you'll have a very pure full spectrum rue extract but it will not be pure harmine/harmaline. In order to get pure harmine/harmaline, the manske is required to get rid of the extra alks.

Some people prefer these extra alks, others do not... To each their own. /shrug

Yes, I knew that. But endlessness seems to be suggesting that the alkaloids, regardless of which ones are selectively extracted, are more pure via Manske?
