Put yourself in the shoes of folks who, over the years, have contributed to this community and made it the wonderful thing that it is today. A new person comes in and barely says hello before mentioning he has many things to teach everyone. People tend to be protective of a great work such as this. So perhaps a little more of the proverbial "sittin' around on the couch and hangin' out" might put people at ease before breaking out the teachings and what not. Please take this for what it is.
