Iboga TA extraction - vinegar evap

Here&Now

I recently came across some instructions for an iboga TA extraction that involve evaporating the alkaloid-containing vinegar in an oven, and it skips the basification step entirely. This would obviously be a bit simpler and less prone to error for the less chemistry inclined individuals like myself.

Anyone know if this would be a viable method, or are there some drawbacks to evaporating vinegar that I'm not aware of?

"The vinegar extractions can be combined, poured into a glass baking dish and placed in the oven. Heat at 200°F with the oven door open with regular checking. When dry, bring out and allow to cool, and then scrape up with a knife."

Did you read these yet?
And also this:
And this:
And consequently this?

All that said, skipping the basification step removes one or two stages of purification so you end up with an extract that has more impurities and is consequently (usually) weaker. Evaporation of vinegar makes a penetrating vinegar smell, of course.

Ah interesting, thanks so much for pointing me towards some helpful resources. I've previously glanced through a couple of these to get the general idea, but I'm beginning to understand now that there's more prep work needed in terms of grasping the nuances.

Also, thanks for the tip on vinegar smelling everything up when evaporating lol. I thought that might be the case, but it's good to have confirmation.
