Imagine Dragons - "Radioactive"

Migrated topic.

Handel

Little sheep lost in woods
Am I the only one who thinks that this mega-hit is about spiritual awaking, and possibly DMT in particular? Some of the lyrics:

"I'm breathing in, the chemicals (big breath).
I'm breaking in, shaping up, checking out of the prison bus."

"This is it, the apocalypse, whoa."

"I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones.
Enough to make my systems blow.
Welcome to the new age, to the new age."

"All systems go, sun hasn't died. (Godhead?)
Deep in my bones, straight from inside."

The music video is just what their label made for the band, so it'd fit the marketing norm. However, there's a key moment in the music video. In the beginning of the video
where the singer takes a big breath ("breathing in the chemicals"), Lou Diamond Phillips is shown smoking in a rather peculiar way (like if the band is making a statement about smoking something other than tobacco), and right after that, we see a key on his neck (the key to other dimensions?).

Interesting hypothesis. The only problem is you could literally come up with any meaning to the song.

Just by the lyrics it could be about the recent "radioactive" issues the world has been facing. Japan ect.

The lyrics you posted could be about dying from radioactivity and how the new age is killing people more and more.

But I like your interpretation better. This kind of thing is why a lot of conspiracy theories are completely wacko. It's just too easy to see your own meaning. If you look hard enough in just about any song you can make it about your life.

The best artists lend an air of ambiguity to their art so that any number of interpretations are possible.

e.g. J.R.R. Tolkien said he didn't mean LOTR to be any kind of symbolism for industrialism, WWI veterans, or Christianity, but rather, just a good story with lots of embedded possible meanings.
