I did spend an hour looking at threads in the welcome section and found just one that I felt like contributing to. I did try.
It's the third time in the last few months that I've popped in to give advice only to be thwarted by the system. The instructions don't state a post requirement, but a 'personal maturity' requirement before being promoted. So rather than posting 10 inane posts to pad my reputation [which are likely to be incommensurate of what I COULD contribute] I was hoping to simply jump into the juicy sciencey bits straight away.
Unless of course the promotion is actually automatic with a certain post number in which case I'll just keep filling this thread with drivel
