I didn't say I was above the promotion process. It might help if you actually read what the process is before criticising:

PROMOTION
You will be promoted to full membership when you have shown enough maturity in your posts. What this maturity is, is up to the moderators.

It helps to get promoted if:
* A full member vouches for you
* You keep making valuable posts, this can be experience reports, helpful answers & questions, literally all contributions!
* You write an essay why you want a full membership, this essay doesn't have to be long or without spelling errors, it just has to be genuine

Again, the decision to promote you to full membership is up to the mods! There is no minimum amount of posts you must make or a minimum amount of time you need to spend here, if the moderators think you earned your full membership then that will be the moment you get your promotion!

It clearly states there is no minimum of anything to get promoted and that promotion is based purely on the mods' decision. It does state that certain things HELP to get promoted, but again there is no minimum of such things other than that the mods need to be satisfied to grant the promotion.

So in reference to the 3 things that help:
1) I am hoping a few full members will vouch for me once they see this thread.
2) I am hoping that some mods know me from other forums and from when I was a member at the nexus in its original incarnation all those years ago, and that that establishes my 'posting maturity'.
3) Short, but done.

I don't seek to be a member of this forum on a social level as I don't have time for that. I usually come here via links posted on other forums when scientific and experiential input is required in a thead here to which I can contribute and help out. It's not the end of the world if I don't get promoted as I can give my input elsewhere, but it would be nice and convenient. So I guess for me it is a matter of weighing up the inconvenience of trying to attain full membershiip here VS the inconvenience of not being able to post my input here directly.

Thank you for assuming I am awesome, but after re-reading my posts I can't actually see any reference to having said or implied that. All I said was that I'd prefer to skip making inane posts and jumping right into the science, which the sandpit seems to be lacking.

At least I get to pad my post count with this discussion
