Into the Void - Introduction

Migrated topic.

Hello Nexus,

I've been studying consciousness and how the brain defines reality for many years along side getting a computer degree. I've come to the nexus to further expand my knowledge. I believe a membership to the nexus will aid me on my quest to study reality.

I was in the military for many years. To be honest, having recently ended my military career is why I currently have no experience with psychedelics outside of reading and research. I did however once have a near death experience that sent me to a place I can only describe as "peaceful". I've heard similar accounts to my experience as some people describe a DMT breakthrough. Ive recently moved to the west coast to pursue a computer degree but I'm considering changing it to Astrophysics. Space is way cooler than computers... but paid a lot less.

I look forward to meeting other Nexians as I travel down the rabbit hole. Send me a message! :)

Welcome to the Nexus!

You are most certainly in the right place to learn about all things psychedelic! Nearly endless amounts of information to be had and absorbed through the ol' noggin. Concerning near death experiences and psychedelics, have a look through the following excellent thread by Gibran2, if you haven't already:

The Similarities and Differences Between NDEs and Psychedelic Experiences

Anywho, welcome once again and may you find everything you are seeking here!

:)

Warm greetings to you, Nightwolf1!

I am also mainly interested in consciousness and the human experience, and this is in my opinion the best place to discuss and expand your knowledge on this topic.

Somebody once said "How can we know what consciousness is, if we do not know what states it can achieve?", and I totally agree. I think psychedelics are THE tool that will aid us in understanding these issues.

I have real life acquaintances and friends with experience very similar to yours. The military can be a very harsh place for some spirits, so I understand your transition. Computer science is definitely a great field, and there are many computer science application towards astrophysics and astronomy, so I'm sure your path will become more clear if it is not already.

Best wishes

Thank you for NDE and psychedelics similarities thread, The Grateful One. I think psychedelics are the key of accessing alternative realities by restructuring the brain.

muladharma, thank you for your kind words of wisdom in regards to my computer science studies. You are exactly right in saying I can apply these skills to the astrophysics and astrology. This is exactly my plan after college. I would like to apply my skills at something like the SETI Institute. In addition to studying consciousness, I find the search for intelligent life fascinating. This is another reason I was drawn to DMT because there is decades of research behind interactions with the DMT "entities". We have much to learn with psychedelics. :D
