Misconception Liberation

Hello friends, this is an intro to the story of a guy named Grant and his relationship with psychedelics. For most of his life, Grant remained a victim to the misconception of the alleged "dangers" of certain psychoactive substances. One day Grant encountered evidence that supported the contrary. Appalled that he may have bought into a huge lie, Grant looked deeper into the matter by watching documentaries and reading books about cannabis, psilocybin-containing mushrooms, LSD, DMT etc. His search for answers brought him insight not only on the honest effects of these substances but also the history of their use and legality which has provided context for better understanding of the current situation and status of these controlled substances.

Presented with scientific evidence that contradicts the disinformation Grant was raised to believe, Grant felt that he had to experience first-hand the effects of a psychoactive substance in order to see the truth himself.

After about a month of thinking and planning, Grant has all the supplies and time needed to ingest cannabis. During this time, Grant imagines how the experience will be like. At first he thinks he'll see enhancements in colors or possibly hallucinate, but later on attempts to abandon his expectations. Grant focuses on letting whatever is going to happen, happen.

Grant doesn't experience anything out of the ordinary on his first few attempts, however he is persistent, and eventually has his moment of truth.

It hits him gradually. The sense of feeling around the skin through out his body slowly changes. When at it's full magnitude, he feels as if there are multiple layers of anti-gravitational fluid immediately beneath and above his skin; giving him the sensation of floating or weightlessness and tingling. This full body sensation was accompanied by an unusual and amazing thought process. Thought provoking ideas were running through Grant's mind at a pace that his brain couldn't keep up. His mind was making connections between concepts, structures, models, stuff, things, EVERYTHING that it had never before made; none the less even be noticeable outside of his current state of consciousness. Grant was able to connect a part of a whole to a different part of a different whole, and a different part of that whole to another different whole. It created a fast paced chain of thought focused on making connections between different things...

Hi brandal24,

Nice story about Grant; I'm glad he had a positive experience with cannabis. Is Grant also interested in other psychoactives? I can tell you that most of them are quite different from cannabis, though if you ingest cannabis orally it's a different story.

What about yourself? BTW it's not really necessary to use things like "a friend of a friend" or talking about someone who isn't me (SWIM)... No one uses it anymore, though you are of course free to write however you like.

Anyway, what brings you to the Nexus? Interested in trying DMT? What is it you are interested in?

Lol you're right about foaf and swim XD. Grant is a new psychonaut and is interested In exploring the mysteries of reality and consciousness through the help of psychoactives such as psilocybin mushrooms, LSD, mescaline, ibogaine, and DMT.
It was through his research of cannabis that Grant found out about the other more potent psychedelics and looked further into these psychoactives. He came across the Nexus when searching for personal accounts and experiences with DMT, but also learned more than what he came to learn about. The community and site are very helpful and interesting, so he joined.

Welcome to the Nexus Brandal24!

Sounds like you had a good experience. So, when are you thinking of trying out some of the more potent psychedelics?

Hi hostillis,
Mushrooms are next (I'm cultivating my own). And after that, DMT.
A friend gave me some mushrooms he wasn't going to eat, So I ate them. It was my first time but all I felt was a tingle in the brain. I concluded that the amount he gave me wasn't enough. He told me it was about 1.4 grams. I always thought that dose was laughable.

That can be a strong dose if the shrooms are good. I would say 3.5 grams is the way to go, but for a first time with good mushies 1.7 is probably the way to go just in case they are extremely potent! :D

I ate an 8th of amazonian cubensis the first time having more than a half 8th and I got stuck in a time loop. Was crazy!

Sounds insane. I'm definitely looking forward to my cultivation and eating fresh mushrooms. Have you tried fresh?

Hi Mustelid, Grant's first time was with a vaporizer bit he had used a pipe before and made cannabutter for cookies.

I've always disliked taking cannabis in hallucination level doses, very uncomfortable for me, but everyone is wired differently. Glad you had a good experience, welcome to the Nexus.

What are the cannabis induced hallucinations for you? I've only experienced mild hallucinations once with cannabis. For me, I was able to make out figures from shadows of blades of grass. I also saw some kaleidoscopic effects with my eyes closed. They weren't full blown or in color, they were subtle but I was able to make out the visual.

For me, too much causes my perceptions to come in slow freeze-frames. The rate is about a half-second per frame, and it goes from being shutter like and instantaneous, to feeling like I'm in a dark abyss cut off from my senses, then thrust into full reality and back every half second.

Some people seem to just pass out if they smoke too much, but I get freeze-frame perception, so I'm very careful to go slowly and not over-do it!

Welcome to the Nexus. I have had similar experiences on high doses of eating cannabis. Mild visuals but no Hana body buzz more than a good feeling. If you make your butter very strong then you can get really good visuals of it but usually end up blacking out of passing out. sometimes if you take too much it will make you sick. I love eating with us 1 of my preferred method of administration. Longer duration a stronger effect
