I'm sure I fucked up on this first batch with the acid pH, didn't boil it down and got a bit mixed up with the measurements so it all together probably hasn't helped heh.

Hopefully this one works out better or at least yields more. If it's still a bit sludgy I'll deal with it.

I used vinegar this time around, I can't gauge pH below something like 6 at the moment (useless pool test kit!) so I thought it'd be sensible with the vinegar/water ratio in comparison to guessing the HCL use. Instead of boiling for 2 or so hours I separated 500g bark into 2 acid cooks in the slow cooker. Probably cooking each on low for about 6 hours. Then combined the used bark into another saucepan afterward for a final acid cook (1 1/2 hours).

Combined it all but didn't reduce (I didn't have the time but will do so in the future). My stove gets hammered with the pressure cooker (sterilising for mushroom related projects) so I avoid using it when I can. The mix is a bit dirty, I think a lot of powder fell through the strainers so next time I'll probably use cloth as a filter (if it's a decent idea).

Need to stock up on more bark soon. Thought I had heaps, worked out to maybe be around 800g.

The insight is at least giving me ideas where I need to tighten up my techniques. Maybe these won't be the greatest extractions but hopefully there'll be some good stuff in the future.
