Is there a difference between Aceitic Acid Concentrations (Extraction/Wash | 10;25;36%)?

Migrated topic.

Hi Nexus,

i've had very good results with A/B-washing my STB Extractions (with Zinc), but plan on going A/B from now on and I have a question: My Supermarket offers 5%, 10% and 25% Vinegar Essences, all white and distilled. I've used 25% to neutralize STB's before draining, but am wondering: it is also suitable for an A/B-wash, or if it could eventually damage the product. I can also get even stronger concentrated Aceitic Acid. Is this worth a go, has anyone tried an A/B(-wash) with less vol but more concentrated aceitic acid? Can I soak bark in 25% aceitic acid for days without loss? (This Post claims using up to 36% concentration to wash with no problems)

How much does it matter that you are going to basify this fluid next, does it have to be diluted with water before, since the neutralization can foam a lot???
Also, can aceitic acid hold more dmt at higher concentrations?

Thanks for your help as allways

Yes, 25% AcOH is suitable for an A/B extraction, prolonged exposure to this acid is not going to decompose your product, rather it will convert your freebase to acetate salt, which is water soluble.

The stronger the % of acid, the more alkaloids you will be able extract with it. One mole of AcOH will extract one mole of alkaloid.

1 mole of glacial (100%) AcOH = 60g and will have a volume of 57.25 ml

1 mole of 5% AcOH will have a volume 1145mls
