I've found a way to greatly enhance lucid dreaming, beware this easy technique.

Migrated topic.

This technique involves I kid you not banana peels. I've tried banana tea before, but it didn't do much and I didn't expect it to do anything this time too.

This time I cut the banana peels from just one banana into small cubes like you would do with bell peppers for a stew, put it in in 300ml of already slightly boiling water, and added two lemon ice cubes (another technique of mine to make lemons last longer is to freeze the lemon juice, two cubes = half a lemon). This went on for about 10 minutes and I strained the liquid into a cup, and added a sugar cube for taste.

The end result was a slightly cloudy yellow tea that had a nice smell and tasted quite good, a perfect good night drink.

Results on lucid dreaming;

After finishing the tea, not so long afterwards I began feeling sleepy and relaxed but not altered, akin to a common dose of melatonin. What surprised me is the fact that I feel asleep so fast, I wouldn't have fallen asleep for at least two hours afterwards if it wasn't for it.

Upon falling asleep I got this delirious feeling I usually get from tripping + sleep deprivation, but I wasn't either of that. I decide to ignore this state as there is virtually nothing else I can do besides relax and drift into sleep. Once I started sleeping the dreams came on fast and strong.

They were so intense that I couldn't differentiate between them and real life for the most part. I could feel the wind, the pain of getting hit, feeling of exhaustion after walking for a while. Every once in a while I would "wake up", and be in this psychotic state where everything is like in a waking reality but my thoughts are quite off and I experience some psychedelic-like hallucinations. When I would really wake up I would have this what I call "matrix" effect going on where my apartment looks like a simulated reality extremely similar to LSD, but I move look around, turn the TV on too see what time it is still being dead tired and a bit delirious.

On those moments I tried to stay awake as the dreams I had were scary in nature and I simply didn't want to sleep despite being tired trying to at least kick the intensity of my dreams down a notch. Surprisingly I couldn't fight it and feel asleep fast after that going through the same cycle over and over again for the rest of the night. I woke up about 5 times and all of these times I entered another set of dreams till morning when I woke up, feeling absolutely fantastic without any hint of tiredness or delusions.

This type of sleep is very unusual for me, I tend to be an insomniac by nature and usually have to force myself to sleep, I can go on and on without sleep without ever being on the verge of being that tired to have to lay down and take a nap. I only sleep to avoid being psychotic after a while (usually 36+ hours of no sleep). After trying lots and lots different techniques this has proven to knock me right out and not only that, it also is perfectly natural and has very interesting effects upon lucid dreaming more so than syrian rue IME. Definitely worth a shot.

Your report is interesting, but i'm sceptical since the whole banana peel thing is an urban legend: Bananadine - Wikipedia

Maybe your banana peel contained preservatives or traces of pesticides?

I didn't attribute the effects to this so called "bananadine", but it could be an effect of 5-ht and 5-htp which was found in banana peels and recommended by some for it's mood-boosting and sleep enhancing effects. Look it up.

However, looking back on it maybe this was about to happen either way because I've entered such states previously, with or without some external techniques. I've always contributed it to that since dreams and states like this are never a usual thing.

As for the preservatives and pesticides I'm no expert but I believe commercial bananas are grown in greenhouses? No need to protect them from pests, since there are no there.

If not for lucid dreaming, I do believe banana peels have some potential because of their 5-ht, 5-htp and nutritional content and it shouldn't be thrown away that often. Look at citrus peels for example, some throw them away to but they can also be used for baking.

Ha, bananadine was the first thing my brain jumped to as well while reading this, I got a laugh from the memory, thinking that all these kids who were reading the anarchist cookbook must have actually tried smoking banana peels. There was a complicated preperation and everything! Any way, it also reminded me of "the dead milkmen - smoking banana peels song"

Ok, enough fun...seriously though, there may be some compounds present in the banana of interest:

Banana, tropical fruit belonging to Musaceae family, is grown in many countries all over the world.[5] All parts of banana plant such as flower, pulp, stem, and leaves have a medicinal application.[6] Banana peel is a waste product of banana,[5] and studies have shown that banana peel also has medicinal properties.[6,7] Bioactive compound such as flavonoids, tannins, phlobatannins, alkaloids, glycosides, and terpenoids are present in banana peel. This bioactive compound is reported to exert pharmacological effect, especially as an antioxidant, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, and antibiotic

Usually I would spend at least 20 minutes digging up all that I could on the topic, but I have other priorities at the moment, could you provide a reference to the specific compounds found in banana? (Musa acuminata, Musa balbisiana, and Musa × paradisiaca)

Best way to check would be to ingest some 5-htp before bedtime...would make for a nice follow up to this :)

As for banana growing, they are not growing them in greenhouses, but warm countries.
A ton of pesticides are used and it's a tremendous problem for unprotected workers and the environment. :(

My bet are neonicotinoids:

Imidacloprid is a systemic insecticide which acts as an insect neurotoxin and belongs to a class of chemicals called the neonicotinoids which act on the central nervous system of insects, with much lower toxicity to mammals. The chemical works by interfering with the transmission of stimuli in the insect nervous system. Specifically, it causes a blockage of the nicotinergic neuronal pathway. By blocking nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, imidacloprid prevents acetylcholine from transmitting impulses between nerves, resulting in the insect's paralysis and eventual death.

In mammals, the primary effects following acute high-dose oral exposure to imidacloprid are mortality, transient cholinergic effects (dizziness, apathy, locomotor effects, labored breathing) and transient growth retardation.

On January 26, 2005, the Federal Register notes the establishment of the '(Pesticide Tolerances for) Emergency Exemptions' for imidacloprid. It use was granted to Hawaii (for the) use (of) this pesticide on bananas(,) and the States of Minnesota, Nebraska, and North Dakota to use (of) this pesticide on sunflower(s).

Neonicotinoids (sometimes shortened to neonics /ˈniːoʊnɪks/) are a class of neuro-active insecticides chemically similar to nicotine. In the 1980s Shell and in the 1990s Bayer started work on their development.[1] The neonicotinoid family includes acetamiprid, clothianidin, imidacloprid, nitenpyram, nithiazine, thiacloprid and thiamethoxam.

A method of enhancing lucid dreaming comprising administration to individuals the Acetylcholine Esterase inhibitor class of drugs.

In addition, we have reports of success with nicotine patches. There is also in the scientific literature studies showing triggering/intensification of REM sleep with arecoline. How much evidence do we need for these general claims: It should be noted that the REM altering, lucidity enhancing effects may be caused by a number of neurophysiological effects induced by these “smart drugs” besides Acetylcholinesterase inhibition. These include: 1. Using a cholinergic agonist (e.g., nicotine).

Direct and indirect evidence implicates acetylcholine-containing neurons in the peribrachial pons as critical in the triggering and maintenance of rapid eye movement sleep.

Brilliant Ufo :)
So the next step for OP would be to use some nicotine patches at night? I've heard they are really effective at making dreams more interesting, sometimes nightmarishly so. Would fit the original description..

I figure nicotine would also be more healthy than these pesticides but could be wrong.

I would not take it with rue or any harmala alkaloids.

There is a documented case where a person has been hospitalised from ingesting rue and a cooked green banana.
This points to the green fruit containing more of the active compounds 5-htp or compounds of a simular structure.

I drink 6g if rue daily and avoid bananas for this reason.

Strange, because in south America, the ayahuasca diet the shaman recommends consists almost entirely of plantains (Musa × paradisiaca)

...and banisteriopsis caapi and peganum harmala contain nearly identical alkaloids...

Haha thanks. Yes, I deem nicotine patches more healthy. Neonicotinoids are not toxic to mammals in low dosages, but I wouldn't recommend ingesting them for LD.

I have a follow up to this thread. Last night I only ate a lot of banana fruits that I had frozen in a separate container. It seems the fruit has also got something going on, but at less potency.

Results:

After finishing the container nothing happened much, I feel asleep as I would have at my usual time. This time however I also entered a similar state just to find out that it was in fact another realm as opposed to a dream.

I was at this place I have never seen before, with this strange feeling that I'm not supposed to be there, but strangely I knew the language and spoke in tongues and then out of the sudden Charlie freaking Sheen appeared and said that he'll guide me through it as I seem to be new and lost to this realm. He then proceeded to summon demons and out of my control I went along with him. On the midway though I snapped out of it and said "STOP IT" which pissed of the demons apparently. I quickly feel into a hole and entered sleep paralysis, where one by one the shadow people appeared and went to get me. I tried to move but I couldn't, I tried to scream but still nothing but before they got to be I snapped out of it and got the "matrix effect" back that I mentioned before.

This effect didn't last a whole lot, but I was as usually dead tired upon waking only this time I managed to stay away for an hour. After that hour, I feel back asleep, with dreams but they were regular in nature and nothing paranormal.

Try nicotine patches: cortexel.us

Although Nicotine can trigger lucid
dreams by itself it is incredibly effective when combined with
Galantamine. If I had one word to describe the influence of Nicotine
on my lucid dreams it would be “music”. Especially when Nicotine is
combined with Galantamine, my lucid dreams seem to have a
soundtrack full of wonderful and totally original music.

Also repeat the experiment with organic (pesticide-free) bananas. I will purchase some on Monday and try this.

I have used bananas - skins and all - to make a fermented brew and while there was no effect on dreaming that I recall (the alcohol would put paid to this), there was a euphoriant antidepressant effect quite separate from any alcohol intoxication.

Now, bananas + nicotine... that sounds like an Amazonian dieta as well.

Okay, it's not that hard. Guess, that's the reason why it's getting harder to find good content. Maybe it should start a fake news site dealing with LD and donate the earnings to the researchers.
