Jung Typology Testing (personality type testing)

  • this is a test I was asked to take by an perspective employer that I thought would be beneficial for nexians struggling with difficulties dealing with others or finding work that fits them well. often times we get ourselves into positions or situations that just don't fit us well and this can lead to a lot of frustration and difficulties in life.

it only takes a few minutes to finish, I don't believe they save any of the data or metrics on you so it's relatively anonymous.

there's also other associated resources that could be beneficial

here's the test, make sure you SKIP the pop up add! do not download anything. this is just how they support their website. I don't agree with it but it's free because of this.

here is the homepage with associated resources

feel free to share your results below and start some dialogue :)

    my results were

Oh my, this is serious! 😉 I feel for you, having just been forced to take a nonsense test that, if you’re unlucky, might be used to predict your performance in teams or worse, to make plans for your development.

Sometimes I wonder when reality will return to organizations. The fact that the fever dreams of Jung and Myers-Briggs still being alive today makes it a sad day indeed. Honestly, I’d advise anyone who encounters these horrible, nonsensical tests to either find a different job or encourage the person pushing them to read a bit more.

Or, of course, you could politely tell the truth and point to the evidence showing these tests don’t actually measure what they claim to. That’s another way to go about it. 😄 @NeitherHere, sorry about this, but I’ve made it my personal mission to abolish these unfounded tests.

You make it sound more serious than it is.
It's like an RPG. Just pick a character.

But yes, if your company makes you do them, be very cautious!

I had an employer give a personality test years ago and it showed me as both high and low scored in 3 areas. Part of that was that it's accurate that I am both high and low functioning depending on how well I slept, mood, yadda.

I think that much of it is that I am also honest. They try to "catch" you in obvious ways and I gave honest answers instead of trying to game it.
Is it wrong to steal from an employer? - Well, yeah. I don't do that.
Does "everyone" steal things like pens from an employer? - Sure. Not exactly their highest priority and I've take a pen.

Years later I had a prospective employer give me the same type of test when they received my resume. When I did the follow up call, the employer told me that the test showed me as "deceptive". That I was trying to fool the test. Actually, I *wasn't* trying to give them the answers they wanted to not fall into the obvious traps.

Since that was then something the testing company had as a record they were trying to get employers to pay to access, I called them and raised a bit of hell. They didn't seem very professional or knowledgeable. Just a bunch of yay-hoos trying to make a buck. They finally agreed to delete my record after I called them on a few things.

That was that test employers used then anyway. Don't remember what it was. I was told by middle managers later in life that testing your honesty *and moreso your tendency to support a union* was actually their primary goal.

I've done quite a bit of research on this employer. The personality test isn't mandatory, just meant to see where I'd do well within the organization. The company is run by a former nation state intelligence subcontractor who's done mostly private investigation work for governmental agencies and other high profile organizations for the last 20 years. Most of the supervisors are highly achieving academics and the business is built quite literally entirely around diversity. I'm not worried about it all that much, things aren't going well as far as finding work anyways. I've been nothing but honest with these people and surprisingly they've been rather receptive. worst case scenario I walk away and end up back to where I am at the moment.

I'm confident I got the job late last night, just need to do a hands on walk of the workspace and shake some hands 😁

Congratulations on your new job, the thing is that tests like these don’t work, and therefore don’t make sense when used to determine whether and where you fit into the organization. Hopefully the “highly achieving academics” see this, and use a more effective approach to making sure that you find your way in the organization.

How accurate can these tests really be? For some reason I think many things we answer based on how we see ourselves and NOT how we actually are?... Do tests of how others 'see/perceive' you reach similar results? I understand it is how 'we feel' but idk that's scale of pain? 1-10 its either painful or not?

The job I was working at which gave me the test was a good job. I just look at them as similar to worthless consultants they brought in (not all consultants were worthless, some were). Not a slur on the job.
